All your...

oh, never mind

If you've been awake anytime during the past 2 years or so, chances are you've encountered some variations of the phrase "All your base are belong to us". What the *#$& is it!?, you ask? Well, I have taken the time and trouble to find out that exact piece of extremely useful information just 4 you!

It's originated from an old Sega Megadrive game called "Zero Wing" and, as you know, the botched up translation of the intro' dialogue has become an internet phenomenon. Heck, it probably explains Apple's 'Think Different' slogan.

In A.D. 2101
War was beginning

Captain: What happen?
Operator: Somebody set up us the bomb.
Operator: We get signal.
Captain: What!
Operator: Main screen turn on.
Captain: It's You!!
Cats: How are you gentlemen!!
Cats: All your base are belong to us.
Cats: You are on the way to destruction.
Captain: What you say!!
Cats: You have no chance to survive make your time.
Cats: Ha Ha Ha Ha ….
Captain: Take off every "zig."
Captain: You know what you doing.
Captain: Move "zig".
Captain: For great justice.
As for the famous line, it was a warning given by the bad dööd (cryptically named 'Cats') to the 'Captain' that a great intergalactic war has begun in the year 2101. In the original Japanese version he utters (properly translated) "Thanks to the cooperation of the U.N. forces, we've taken over all of your bases,". No, I couldn't possibly have figured that out either.

Goodies:

Mac OS X users can download the (128x128) ZeroWing icons from Xicons.com!
