Here's Leland. He's a 1969 Cadillac DeVille convertible, in Colonial Yellow. He's a totally original, unrestored car, with only 36,000 miles. Not even the convertible top has been replaced. I bought Leland in January of 1998, basically sight unseen. He was formerly part of the Richard Sills collection (Mr. Sills is currently president of the Cadillac - LaSalle Club). In October of 1998, we exhibited Leland at the AACA National Fall Meet in Hershey, PA and were delighted when he was awarded a First Junior -- after being driven over 200 miles to the show through the rain! Most recently, in May of 2000, Leland took first place in the Hudson Valley Region AACA show in Rhinebeck, NY. Remember, he is TOTALLY ORIGINAL AND UNRESTORED -- and is driven to every meet we exhibit him at! |

Clementine is my wife Janice's dream car -- a 1972 Orange Volkswagen Super Beetle, Model 1302. We found this car at Spring Carlisle 2001, and Janice surprised me by going ahead and buying it. The exterior had been repainted; the floor pans, heat exchangers and trunk compartment are completely original and totaly rust-free. The original 1.6 liter, 50 h.p. engine had been recently rebuilt. The previous owner had a custom exhaust system fitten and added such authentic accessories as vent shades for the ront windows, stainless door handle guards, a chrome trunk handle shield, and chrome trim for the rear louvers. The car was pretty much 'get in and drive' but Janice did add a few items such as chrome gravel guards, beauty rings, a bud vase (essential!) and an asortment of orange toys to accessorize; we were lucky enough to find orange fuzzy dice! And one other thing she needed to do before she could use the car -- learn to drive it. You see, she had never owned or driven a standard shift car before! |

Bunkie, our 1963 Pontiac Catalina 9 passenger Safari, was originally purchased by Mr. John McGinnis on August 10th, 1963 at West Side Pontiac in Lakewood, Ohio. While using his Pontiac regularly, Mr. McGinnis maintained the wagon meticulously, always keeping it garaged and serviced. At the time of his passing around 1980, this pampered Pontiac had covered approximately 100,000 miles and was then stored by his family. Over the next 20 years, the wagon was driven less than 4,000 miles and in February 2001, was sold to Pontiac collector Joseph Wheat of Pittsburgh PA. Mr. Wheat then proceeded to have some minor cosmetic work done, and replaced the damaged rear bumper. With several Pontiacs in his collection, including at least 5 station wagons, Joe decided to sell the '63. I spotted the gleaming Cameo Ivory Safari at Fall Carlisle 2001 on Wednesday (set-up day) around 2:00 p.m. By 5:00 p.m., it was ours! The paint is 90% original, while the chrome and interior is completely original. In the glovebox I discovered the following: a receipt for the original deposit put down on the car, along with another receipt for the final payment; the original bill of sale; the window sticker, and the build sheet -- all perfectly preserved. The wagon is powered by Pontiac's 'base 389 V8', with a 2 barrel carburetor. The base engine, however, is no slouch, with a 10 to 1 compression and 267 horsepower. Other equipment includes Hydramatic, power steering, power brakes, AM radio, super deluxe spinner wheel covers, and the decor package. We've named the wagon 'Bukine' in honor of Bunkie Knudsen, Pontiac's former general manager. |
