Cobra

Vengeance

Attack Helicopter

Cobra Commander was fed up. While he was consistently winning some battles, he was losing the ones that mattered. The most recent attack on G.I.Joe's Rocky Mountain Base was one of those battles. The strategy was there, but the equipment was not. He had to use helicopters for the attack because his Rattlers and Night Ravens could not manipulate the mountain terrain and hit the targets with any accuracy. He had no choice but to send in a group a F.A.N.G. helicopters. The end result was a bloodbath. The FANG's lack of firepower caused little damage and it's lack of sensor data caused the death of all the pilots. Cobra Commander needed a new attack helicopter that could do the job.

Cobra Commander called on Destro to supply such a helicopter but could not provide it. FireFly then stepped up and "volunteered" his services to capture one of the Joe's Dragonfly helicopters and uncover it's design. With little trouble, FireFly returned with the Dragonfly to Cobra Island.

Destro and his engineers began picking apart the Dragonfly as he documented every nut and bolt. He then began the design and construction of the new Cobra Vengeance. During the design phase, Cobra Commander pointed out there was no need for the rescue wench on the bottom of the helicopter. "The troops are trained to save themselves", he said.

Destro removed the winch and designed an ingenious and evil replacement for it. It consisted of a rearward firing missile pod and high level sensor package. The missile pod served two purposes. The first being defense. The pilot could fire the missiles at aircraft attacking from the rear. The second was the more devious. While on strafing runs, as the pilot pulled up from the target he was attacking he could fire another barrage of missiles on his ground target to finish it off.

The new sensor package mounted behind the weapons officer's seat received data from the sensor dish mounted at the front of the missile pod. The sensor package has passive and active radar, infrared tracking and radiation detection. The system is controlled by the new target tracking computer installed. The computer is capable of tracking 30 air and ground targets and keeping full telemetry data of each.

The field tests proved highly successful. Flawless actually. Cobra Commander saw no reason to wait. He wanted revenge and this was the craft to do it. G.I.Joe's Rocky Mountain base was conquered in a short 47 minutes.

G.I.Joe had met it's match... or had they?

More stuff: Okay so now that you got by my bad attempt at being a writer, I'll tell you what I did to make this. I bought a Locust and a HISS III at the same time. I had some great customs ideas for both. I first had to find a way to remove the wench from the Locust with out breaking the body. I tried prying it out every way that I could, but it wouldn't budge. I was forced to cut the pegs on either side of the wench to get it to drop out. I then took a missile pod from a Wolverine and glued it to the bottom. I painted the body flat black and the other parts gunship gray. I attached the landing skids then I glued on the sensor dish from a Battle Platform. I gave the body a quick clear coat and assembled the rest of the parts. A few touch ups with a paint brush and painting was complete. I used stickers from a HISS III, Locust and Man-O-War to complete the piece.

This was my first attempt at a custom anything and I think it turned out pretty well. I haven't tried my hand at custom figures yet because they seem more difficult to do. I may try down the road, but I had to start with something easier first. I also customized a HISS III  which I think looks even better than this piece. I hope you think it doesn't suck. :) --FireFox
