"May I proudly present for your viewing pleasure, our new home!" Tsuki-Neko cheered, and both Shire and Ak'rei cheered happily. It had taken a full year and a lot of work (both from themselves and from people they had hired) but their home was finally finished. Tsuki-Neko plopped down on the sand. "Whew! Well, what're we gonna call it anyway?" "I vote that we put Iriomote in there somewhere," Ak'rei put in. The others nodded agreement, and kept thinking. <It is the home of dragons is it not? So why don't we call it Iriomote Dragonhome?> Rhiwyth asked. <Sounds good to me,> Jylayonth agreed. <I third the motion,> Nyroath added, and the flits cheeped their two cents as well. "Well folks, looks like we have a name!" Tsuki-Neko said, laughing. "Even if none of us liked it we're still outvoted." "Guess it's a good thing we do like it then, huh?" Shire said, grinning as well. "We might've had to do it over again!" Everyone shook their heads frantically. Iriomote Dragonhome was a fine name. |
"So what do you wanna do now?" Ak'rei asked later that evening as they sat on the roof of their new home. Iriomote had been designed like a castle from Japan's feudal era, with the sweeping inwardly arched roofs. The particular method of construction used was the same as the pagodas scattered around Japan, ensuring that no typhoon would blow it over. |
"Well, Coloured Snow is all in a tizzy. He says there's another Flurry coming up," Shire put in. Tsuki-Neko's ears perked. "Another flurry? Cool! We should do that!" he said, grinning. "Hey, yeah! We could tell other riders about Iriomote, too, and see if they wish to come!" Shire said, grinning. "Well, you guys have fun at the flurry, I'll stay here and work on a few more details," Ak'rei said, settling back against Nyroath's red hide. "What? Why won't you come?" Shire asked, somewhat dismayed. "Coz Ny' here isn't a Flurry dragon, nor is he part white or silver. We've got work here to do anyway." |
"Like what?" Tsuki-Neko asked curiously. "Like getting all your friends convinced to stay here with us so they don't get hunted. I'm sure people would love to have the extra cubs as pets, and this way they won't be run into extinction from lack of food or land. If we domesticate them they can stay around forever, or close enough to it." Tsuki-Neko nodded. "I'll send the message round tonight, and we'll leave for Ryslen in the morning. That is, if you want to go, Jyla..." he said, looking up at the large silver and spotted dragon. Jylayonth nodded. <This "Flurry" sounds like fun. I'd like to give it a try,> he rumbled. Rhiwyth accepted too. <It is about time for me to rise anyway, so I shall go along,> she said, stretching. Shire scratched fondly at the edge of her long horns, making the purple-and-white dragon almost purr in pleasure. "Well, it's settled then. Hope you guys have fun while you're away," Ak'rei said, grinning. The other two nodded, smiling back, and they all slept out under the stars that night. |
