Isaac Asimov

On Isaac Asimov

If there is at least one science-fiction author that is well known to the general public, that author is probably Isaac Asimov (cases could also be made for Arthur C. Clarke or Robert A. Heinlein, but that is a different story).

Isaac Asimov (also known as The Good Doctor) was one of the most prolific writers of the 20th Century, writing or editing about 500 books in almost every field. Somebody once commented that Asimov is probably the only author who has at least one book in each of the library book categories except Economics.

As a writer, Asimov is best known for having a 'plain' writing style. Don't expect to find bombastic, eloquent sentences in his book. Instead, expect to find fascinating ideas about science clearly stated and acted upon by his characters. This clarity of writing also extends to his science books. His style of writing has also influenced my way of writing and presenting material. I also try to present my thoughts as plainly as possible to let my ideas speak for themselves.

To find out more information on Asimov, visit Ed Seiler's Isaac Asimov Home Page, an unofficial home page devoted to Isaac Asimov.

A side note: in the early days of that web site, I helped to convert to HTML the Isaac Asimov FAQ.

Unfortunately, since then, I have been inactive. Ed Seiler, John Jenkins and other people have to take almost all the credit for the work done at that site.

Favourite Asimov Books

There are plenty of Asimov books and stories to like, but among those that he wrote, the following will always be my favourites:
