"Just Another Cowboy" by Esther M. Friesner. A interesting and humorous story set on a farm in Texas that has just got a new owner. The farmhands are nervous over what she would do, especially one farmhand who has an unusual secret to hide from the outside world.
"Torah! Torah! Torah! Three Bible Tales for the Third Millennium" by Thomas M. Disch. A highly amusing relook at three tales from the Bible; Adam's naming of the animals and figuring out a name for the birds, Sarah's look at Abraham taking Isaac to be a sacrifice, and why Moses mentions only One God (with no Wife in sight).
"The Political Officer" by Charles Coleman Finlay. A story of intrigue set on a spaceship sent to spy on another world. The political officer on the ship gets into conflict with the crew of the ship but things goes from bad to worse when threats made and hints of a saboteur on board the ship are found.
"The Beast of Downy Mount" by Michael Thomas. An interesting story with horror elements. In a small town, one resident has just get the newly invented gun, which many consider a joke. But it may just come in handy in helping to solve a mystery; people have disappeared and a beast is the suspect. But what kind of beast?
"The Copywriter" by Alison Bowman. A humourous story about a copywriter who is given the job of making the takeover of the Earth by aliens sound good...perhaps too good.
"The Planet of Youth" by Jack Williamson. An interesting story that looks at a search for the 'Planet of Youth'. But is the price of youth and immortality worth it when the planet is found and the method of achieving youth is given?
"The Hanging Curve" by Gardner Dozois. A curious tale about a ball that, in the middle of being pitched in a baseball game, suddenly does something quite unexpected. The effect this has on the players, the stadium, the spectators, the commentators, etc. are explored in this tale.
