03/29/02 5 Hand Gang gets blurb in L.A. Times. Click here!! 03/15/2002 5 Hand Gang makes the news!! It was a cold Saturday afternoon in the little village of New Rome. The cops there had pissed off one too many people and a march and protest was organized by the web site NEWROMESUCKS.COM. Since we practice right next door to the police station we set up some equipment on the front porch to allow the protesters to use the PA to voice their grievances. We heard about 30 minutes worth of angry protestors stories about how they were ripped off by the New Rome police, and a brief speach by protest organizer, Jim Bussey. We led the crowd in chanting, "New Rome sucks!", and "We want our money back!". Some of the people wanted to hear the band, so we quickly set up the instruments too and ended up playing "Billy Jack" in front of the 50 or more people from the march who had stuck around for the festivities, including all 3 of the Columbus news stations, the Columbus Dispatch and the West Side Messenger. |
