METLOX POPPYTRAIL
Budweiser Clydesdales & Wagon
These Clydesdales stand approximately 9" tall, and were made in California by Metlox Potteries which operated from 1927 to 1989.  They are #645 of the Poppytrail Nostalgia American Royal Horses line.  The Budweiser beer wagon measures approximately 8" x 12.5".  It was commissioned by the Anheuser-Busch company as an advertising display piece and was never merchandised to the public.  It is also part of the Metlox Poppytrail Nostalgia line.
Bay Cart Horse and Carriage
This horse stands approximately 8.0" tall and was made by Metlox Potteries.  It is #641 "Dobbin" of the Poppytrail Nostalgia American Royal Horses line and is a very difficult horse to find in mint condition since most have been broken over the past 50 years.  The carriage and people were also made by Metlox, designed by Evan Shaw (of Disney fame) in the late 1940's.
Brown & Yellow Carriage
This fancy carriage is about 9.5" tall with a fabric fringe, vinyl top, and black-edged wheels.  It is #660 of the Poppytrail Nostalgia line Carriage Collection and is rather difficult to find, as are the other specialty carriages in the collection.  Also designed by Evan Shaw in the late 1940's.
Grey Horse and Doctor's Buggy
This horse stands approximately 8.0" tall and was made by Metlox Potteries.  It is #641 "Dobbin" of the Poppytrail Nostalgia American Royal Horses line and is a very difficult horse to find in mint condition since most have been broken over the past 50 years.  The buggy shown is the hard-to-find #640 Doctor's Buggy, and stands approximately 9" tall.  Notice the vinyl top, bronze-colored frame, red pinstriping on a green base, black seat, and gold painted accents.  This buggy is another piece from the very special Poppytrail Carriage Collection.
Burgundy Old-Fashioned Buggy
This clean two-seater is about 9.25" tall with a metal top and frame.  It is #623 of the Poppytrail Nostalgia line Carriage Collection.  This buggy is relatively easy to come by, and is also found in other colors such as black or yellow-green.
The Package Wagon
This is the bay cart horse as shown previously, along with an extremely difficult-to-find #610 Package Wagon.  This beautiful green wagon stands approximately 9" tall.  Notice the gold detailing, yellow accent paint and red pinstriping.  This wagon is another piece from the very special Poppytrail Carriage Collection, however the wheel frame shown here is not original.  The original wheel frame should be red with black-edged or gold-edged wheels, and the front wheels should be smaller than the back wheels.  I was lucky to find this piece even without its metal frame, however I am happy to report that it fits well into the frame from the Old-Fashioned Buggy.  Update:  I have now found an original wheel frame for this wagon, and it can be seen pictured down below with the Metlox Hackney.
Metlox Doctor Figurine
This distinguished looking doctor is a part of the Americana Figures Collection of the Poppytrail Nostalgia Line, and is REALLY tough to find.
Pony and Pony Cart
This spunky little guy has the most beautiful deep glaze and shadings, though they don't show up well in this photo.  He measures 7.5"x6" and is #642 of the American Royal Horses Collection of the Poppytrail Nostalgia Line.  The cart shown is the #629 Pony Cart, which is part of the Carriage Collection.
Flower Vendor and Horse
This is the #615 Flower Vendor Set of the Poppytrail Nostalgia Line.  This is normally a 3-piece set, but so far I have only been able to get ahold of these two parts of it.  I am still shopping for the cart, which is a cart that holds a bunch of flower pots that can actually be used as a "flower frog" to hold real flowers.  When I find the one I want, I'll add it to the site.
Metlox Hansom Cab
This interesting buggy is about 7.0" tall with a metal wheel frame.  It is #628 of the Poppytrail Nostalgia line Carriage Collection.  This buggy also comes in other colors such as black and red.
Bay Carriage Horse
This great horse is the Metlox Morgan #647 and stands about 7.75" tall.  This horse can be found in other colors such as grey or black and can be quite difficult to find in undamaged condition. It is also from the Poppytrail American Royal Horses line and is shown here with the doctor and doctor's carriage.
Turquoise Carriage
This is the Metlox Victorian Carriage #625 in turquoise colored glaze, which is more difficult to find than those in the typical Metlox glaze colors of black, red, or green.  The undercarriage is black and also original to the piece.
Black Draft Horse
This is the large Metlox Circus/Draft Horse #648 in black with Clydesdale Harness.  He stands about 8" tall and is EXTREMELY difficult to find!  He is labeled as shown to the right, and I am absolutely overjoyed to add him to my collection!
Bay Hackney
This is the medium Metlox Hackney #679.  He stands 7.75" tall, though the Metlox book says the medium Hackney should stand 6.5" tall.  I'm not sure if the book is wrong or if there is also a "small" Hackney in existence, but there is no question this horse is authentic Metlox.
