Merry Meet
Mother and Son
One day a mother and son sat under the trees
with billowy clouds, sun, and a wonder breeze
Twas peaceful and calm
The son being youthful with a wondering mind
turned to his mother and ask . . .
Why does life have to be such a test
We spend all our time learning
and never seem to stop
Why can’t things be easy
The mother thought of the right things
she could say
To answer his questions
in a loving, honest way

Life, my dear, is a test to let you know

You’re alive and have room to grow
We spend our time learning

to pass on to our little ones
all the things that we now know
I can see you are worried about
life’s tough work ahead

Remember I will be here for you
you have nothing to dread

The son sat and thought of what his
mother had said
Then turned to his mother
hugged her and said
I am so glad you’re my mother
I love you

The mother hugged her son
And thought of the wonderful way,
all tests of life, the lessons,
and the hard work,
were rewarded
I wrote this poem for my son.
