I have added a few new machines to my collection. They were found
in a small shop in Connecticut. They are nice machines and only need
a little cleaning and new paint. All are driven by a line shaft and
were operated that way up until a few years ago. To the left are links
to a few photos of the machines in the shop when they were in
Connecticut. I will post some more as I get them cleaned up.

I have finished work on the planer for now and have started on
the lathe. Most of the headstock is done and I have moved on to the
legs and bed. I hope to have the legs and bed finished in the next few
weeks. I will post more pictures when they are finished.

I have finally finished painting the legs, bed, tailstock and a few
other parts. I had to spend a little more time on it than I thought
I would. I had to go over and over the machine to get it just like I
wanted it. To clean the machine I used Zep's Industrial Purple, which
can be found at The Home Depot. It is the best thing I have found for
removing old grease and paint. You can spray it on for larger parts
or submerge smaller parts in a bucket. It works well for removing paint
from old machines built before 1900. I have not tried it on machines
with any new latex or enamel paints. I don't think it would work as
well on them, but it will remove all of the grease. After soaking the
parts I wash them with warm water or use a pressure washer for large
castings. When finished the castings look as though they came right
from the foundry. Now that the bed and legs are out of the way, I hope
things will start moving along faster.
