RAMMSTEIN
The six members of Rammstein were performing in other bands and were good friends when they first came together in 1993.
They call the music they make
"Tanzmetal" (dance metal).
They first became popular in their native  Germany and then the rest of Europe.
The UK and US followed after they appeared on the soundtracks to the movies The Lost Highway and The Matrix.
They were nominated for a Grammy (Best metal perfomance)
and for an MTV award (best rock).
In 1999 they recieved an Echo award (German "Grammy") for "Most Succesful Band Abroard".
In March 2002 they won an other Echo award for "Best Alternative Band"
