Vessel Examination |
The Vessel Safety Check Program utilizes trained Auxiliary Vessel Examiners to check the safety equipment on both recreational and commercial vessels. Boat owners are advised of the legal requirements for their vessels as well as recomendations for use of the equipment on board. Many marine insurance companies offer their policyholders a discount on their insurance premimums, if their vessel has earned the VSC decal. If discrepancies are found, the owner is advised of the problem and a recommended solution is provided for his consideration. There is no charge for this service, and we do not write citations! Our objective is to help the boat owner become more aware of the condition of his vessel and the safety equipment aboard. Vessels (including Personal Watercraft) may be examined either on the water or high and dry on the trailer. We can be found at the area boat ramps on weekends and holidays, and in some cases can come to your home to check your boat in your driveway etc. Feel free to E Mail us for more information, or to schedule a Vessel Safety Check on your boat. |
If all legal requirements have been met, and the required equipment is all in servicable condition, a Vessel Safety Check decal is issued, to be displayed on that vessel. The award of this decal signifies that the owner of the boat is aware of his legal requirements, and has at least the minimum required safety equipment aboard the vessel. |
