This is the list of projects received in the test issue of this poll.
These items have generally been left out of the Better Jacksonville Plan. 1. ROADS: Unclog traffic, existing intersections. 2. DRAINAGE: Serious efforts to reduce flooding (Real amounts of money). 3. REDUCE DEBT: Pay existing debt to reduce future taxes; get city on a cash basis. 4. RIVER: Environmentally safe dredging with State & Fed Govts. 5. RIVER: Improve sewage treatment along river to better than 3 stage quality. 6. RIVER & SHORE: More access ramps & parking for boaters & runners. 7. TOXIC SITES: Properly cleanup toxic land sites; reduce chronic diseases like diabetes & birth defects like ADD/ADHD. 8. SCHOOLS: Raise graduation rates-smaller class sizes. 9. HEALTH CARE: Improve health care access/public health. 10. BUSES/RAPID TRANSIT: Unclog roads by more public buses & routes followed by replacing buses with 45-70 MPH real rapid transit. 11. CHILDREN: Build more Boy-Girls Clubs/crime prevention & tutoring. 12. ACTIVE PARKS: Build more parks, upgrade pools & bike paths. 13. FIRE/POLICE STATIONS: Build more & and renovate existing. 14. SENIORS: Increase services & add senior facilities in community centers. 15. COUNCIL DISTRICTS: District dollars as % of Plan; district voters to decide District use by real poll by each Dist. Council member. 16. BRANCH LIBRARIES: Additional branch libraries & additional service hours. 17. COMMUNITY CENTERS: Combine small libraries - study areas - computers - Bookmobile stops with Senior Centers-Boys Girls Clubs - Community Centers. 18. SPORTS ARENA: Approx.30% of ticket & concession gross receipts to repay. 19. CONTINGENCY: % of Plan Dollars for unanticipated projects.
