Well where do I begin. It was my first Ozzfest and didn't know what to expect. I didn't take my 2 boys as I thought it may have been unsuitable. I was wrong they would have loved it. The age range was huge I saw a tiny baby and there was many  parents dragged off into the front of the crowd by their children. It was an excellent atmosphere all around and we were blessed with wicked sunshine that slipped behind a cloud now and again giving a welcomed relief from the heat. Hands those who got burnt lol. Most of the crowd though consisted of small and large groups of older teenagers loving every minute of it, and  groups of  older Sabbath era heads some of whom seemed amazed at the other bands.
Some people must have been planning/making their clothes weeks in advance. I wore my Diary of a Madman tour t-shirt from 81. It my scruffiest one but its my fav. It was mad watching the youngsters with spikey coloured hair and customized boiler suits come out from the front of the crowd and collapse onto the banking with a smile on their smuged painted faces.
There were some wild bottle fights. Some nasty looking ones at the front of the crowds between the main stage and the kerrang stage and some fun ones on the bankings. One group at the top of the banking and one at the bottom exchanging hundreds of bottles a minute. Damn if I took my kids I would have had someone to go and join in with lol
I saw a few people walking around with cut heads and split/black eyes and as I walked past a first aid van there was a row of people being 'mopped up'.
I watched from the banking as the crowds dispersed when a band finished only for a new batch to desend when the next band came on. Apart from the Sabbath set I didn't recognise many songs 2 by Papa Roach, to which I had to phone my son and hold up the phone so he could hear them. Wait and Bleed by Slipknot and 'shout shout let it all out'
Tool had a good crowd desend from the bankings to watch them and so did Slipknot, but it was only when the Mighty Sabbath came on did the people on the banking stand up in total unision. The set list was the same as Tuesdays gig except Cornucopia was switched with The Wizard. Good choice in my opinion as Ozzy got out his harmonica and the crowd couldn't beleive their eyes. What a treat! He then threw it into the crowd. During the set someone threw a blow up doll on stage an Ozzy being Ozzy grabbed it and 'shagged' it. Yes he's still the same unpredictable Oz. Next Ozzfest I'm gonna dress up as a blow up doll and throw my self limply onto the stage in the hope that the Ozman will man handle me!!!!
I read a review that Ozzy looked surprised when he realised that no-one knew/or had forgotten the words to Warpigs when he held the mic out to the crowd. If this did happen I think it was because the front crowd were mostly the younger generation because where I was on the banking everyone was singing it. There was a big Ozzfest sign  above the stage which sprayed out water and pyro's blasting on the front of the stage.
It all ended with a huge firework display and  me and my boyfriend began the long journey back to South Wales and once again back to reality. We had a blow out on the motorway, changed the wrecked tyre for a flat spare and crawled to the nearest service station only to find out that their air pump was broke!!!!!!!!!!! Ended up phoning the AA.So dont expect air from the granada sevices.  But it was all worth it!!!!!!!!!
