Bandai FL Tutankham Color handheld tabletop game page

This is a really fun little game. Based on the original Konami, you are an explorer who searches through the ancient tomb of Egyptian King Tutankhamen. Various creatures guard the tomb as you work your way deep into the the catacombs.

Gameplay

You must guide the explorer through the maze of each stage. There are several different creatures who constantly appear in different areas of the maze. Those creatures can be destroyed with bullets or a "flash bomb" (which destroys all enemies on the screen). "flash bombs" can only be used once per stage or each of them can be used for later stages.
On each stage, the explorer must pick up keys in order to unlock the doors to the rooms where each of the treasures are kept but he can only carry one at a time.
Each maze has a map at the top of the screen that helps you know how far the explorer is from each treasure room. Each stage has has a time limit and if you run out of time, you will run out of bullets, so you must try to collect all keys and unlock all doors to recover the treasure before time runs out. Once the explorer has unlock all doors and recovered a treasure, a bonus score is rewarded for the treasure. Points are also scored the time that is left over on each stage. Afterwards, the explorer proceeds to the next stage.
The treasures that will appear in this order: the map, chest of gold and jewels and the golden death mask. After you have recovered all three of King Tut's treasures, the game starts over again with increased difficulty.

This game is worth picking up if not just for the design. Not only because of box artwork, but also the gameplay. Fans of the Epoch Dracula might be familiar with the theme of this game ---exploring a maze, avoiding the monsters and discovering the treasures--- but this game is slightly different. As you move deeper into the catacombs, the screen scrolls sideways with you, a new element in a tabletop game, so each stage is a lot longer than what the VFD screen can show at one time. Definitely worth picking this one up as this game is rather rare to find.
