SSBN 643 Testing trip

The ship in the above photograph is not SSBN 643. I do not have a comparable photograph of SSBN 643.

The ship is just out of new construction and this is one of the first times she has been to sea. The mission is to determine what works and what does not, and what is safe and what is not.
If you were going to sea aboard this ship on official business on the 26th of December 1965, the booklet displayed on this page is what you would have been given as you came aboard the ship.
The ship is newly constructed and is operated by its new crew. There are several other people on board for the purpose of testing the ship's performance and the performance of the ship's equipment under actual at-sea conditions.
As you read the booklet remember you are not on a cruise ship, this ship is a weapon of war. This cruise will not be a vacation. The accommodations are crude and nothing is comfortable, but work is plentiful and constant.
This event occurred in 1965, but nothing much has changed since then, so if you were going to sea on a newly built Trident II today, what you see here is still similar to what you would be given to help you find your way.
