These pages are dedicated to the
performers, musicians, technicians, support crew, co-ordinators, creators
and, of course, fans, of Lord of the Dance.
On July 25th, 1998, Michael Flatley officially retired from performing in the role that he created. To do this he created a show that took "Lord of the Dance" as it was known and sent it beyond all the wildest dreams and expectations of even the most ardent fans and followers. What follows is a montage of moments, a collage of people's memories, a gift of glimpses, shared here for your enjoyment. I did not attend the performance (unfortunately) but having prepared these pages now feel like I was there! The energy, the spectacle, the passion, the excitement, and the dedication of all involved shines through even in these brief glimpses of the evening's performance. At one point 84 dancers are pounding the floorboards in perfect unison, at another two firey violinists create magic with their music. Colours explode as the joy and energy explodes onto the stage in an amazing example of choreography, the purity of the beautiful soprano clear and strong washes over you, and then there is the ominous, overwhelming sense of forboding, as evil approaches triumph over good.... whatever the moment, the performance that was "Feet of Flames" will indeed go down in history as the greatest dance spectacle ever presented..... that is of course until, perchance, another? Please join us on this journey, we will visit with some who were fortunate enough to experience this event first hand....but firstly, let's take a peek at "The Making of...." |
