Who We Are

We are a grassroots, non-sectarian, non-political charity (501.c.3) that funds the construction of schoolhouses in rural China.

How did we decide to get involved? Actually, it was an article that appeared in The Christian Science Monitor. The rest, as they say, is history.

Since 1993, FORCE has funded and helped fund the construction of five village schools in Ansai County, near the city of Yenan, which is located in northern Shaanxi Province (where is this?).

Our projects received some press which helped us raise money from as far as Milan, Italy, and Jordan.

Each of the four school buildings, currently in operation, cost from US$7,000 to US$35,000, and serves 100 to 350 students. The students are in grades 1 through 6.

This is a strictly grassroots, people-to-people operation. None of our funds has gone through any governmental agency except the local school board in Ansai County. FORCE has been run from day one by volunteers.

All operating expenses, from photocopying, fax, international long distance calls, to developing photographs, mailing, travel expenses, web design, are absorbed by members or volunteers.

What You Can Do to Help

Since all our administrative overhead is donated as in-kind services, 100% of your tax-deductible donation (tax ID #: EIN 94-3322936) goes to China- to build schools where children need them the most.

Although our main goal is to build a school house a year, help is also needed for books and scholarships. We are currently providing scholarships for only 4 students.

Would you like the opportunity to make a difference? Please contact us with a donation or volunteering!
