Maggie and MichelleMaggie and Michelle

Maggie Perquin

Maggie joined the Forest City Singers in September 2000, and became co-director with Michelle in September 2003. Maggie has been singing as long as she can remember, in choirs and as a solo performer. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario in Music Education, and taught music at both the elementary and secondary level. Maggie offers her creativity and training during rehearsals to help choir members find their full voice potential, then works to create a blend of tone and musicality for our concerts.

Michelle Brown

After singing into numerous hairbrushes as a child, Michelle studied vocal music at Queen's University, where she graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Music degree.  During her studies she was involved in Collegium Musicum, a choir specializing in music from the Medieval and Renaissance Eras and was also a member of the Queen's Choral Ensemble.  As a summer job, Michelle worked as a co-director of a Music Theatre camp in Lambton county.  In 1998 she completed her Bachelor of Education degree at The University of Western Ontario and has been teaching music from JK to grade 8 in the Thames Valley District School Board.  Michelle joined the Forest City Singers in September 2000, and began her current role as co-director with Maggie in September 2003.  One of the greatest benefits of having two people sharing the role of conductor is the ability to split the rehearsals.  Michelle has been able to use her piano skills to work with the tenor and bass sections of the choir.  Michelle shares her love for music and draws out the passion and musicality of the choir members so that the audience will in turn find a connection with the performance.
