Shortly, Seraphim dies, leaving behind a daughter (half
human, half angel, and has supernatural power greater then the normal angels)
with a disk full of information about black cancer. The investigations
continue, C and K have got separated for apparently no reason in their
partnership, ..... After a while, both C and K realize that they want to
be with each other, and somehow start a fight with K's current partner.
Of course, they get back together after all the fuss.
Meanwhile, the Earthians seem to be doing more evils than goods, and
Eden's plan to destroy Earth will be implemented in no time. Chihaya
is very upset about everything, despite the fact that he's with K already,
and K has reached his mating season. On a day in the tropical rain
forest, K gets drunk, seduces C, and these two eventually commit the homosexual
activity crime of Eden. Very coincidentally, they are caught in bed
the very next morning, and are brought to a trial in Eden. On go
the trial and the destruction plan ...... The story ends with C and
K eventually escaped Eden and join the allied forces on Earth, which are
really a team led by Seraphim's daughter and a whole bunch of angel human
offsprings. Together, they save the Earth from destruction, for the
time being, probably.
More About the Angels
So what are these angels? Angels are essentially aliens living on a planet,
called Eden, millions of light years away from Earth. They have come
into existence much earlier than Earth was born and have developed advanced
technology to travel around in space. For some reason, they seem
to view themselves as the guardians of the universe and have taken up the
responsibilites of deciding the future of other living things in the universe.
In particular, they have been watching over Earth for millions of years
by sending pairs of angels to investigate what the Earthians are doing
everyday. Each pair of investigators is made up of one positive investigator,
who records only the good deeds on Earth, and a negative investigator,
documenting only the crimes, etc. To facilitate these kind of investigations,
the angels have set up two space stations around the Earth: Wallhala is
on the moon, and Isana is a smaller station closer to Earth, or orbiting
Earth. Every once in a while the investigators on Earth will go back to
Wallhala for physical check-ups or take the required examinations in different
subjects. I think they go there for holidays too in case they are
feeling homesick after staying on Earth for a long time.
The government of Eden ( if such a thing exists at all ) seems
to be extremely simple. It just consists of two people: Michael the president
and Raphael his general or his helper. Together, they decide
everything policies on Eden, for example, they are responsible for the
future of the Earth, they are very concerned about the results of the student's
exams, they take care of the pairing of the investigators, they have to
decide who to adopt, etc. Apart from these two most important figures,
it is also mentioned in the story that there are a higher rank of angels,
called the Arch Angels. The six of them are:
-
Michael
-
Raphael
-
Seraphim
-
Uriel
-
Gabrielle
-
Michael's sister
Seraphim is the leader of the positive investigators ( I guess Raphael
must be the leader of the negative team since he has no affection for Earth
whatsoever) but has fallen in love with an Earth woman and contracted a
deadly illness. Uriel is an opera singer and he gives the impression
that the only thing he does is fool around and does whatever pleases him.
Gabrielle exists solely as Raphael's wife and is always portrayed at home
making cakes or tea for the guests. Michael's sister died a long
time ago and has never appeared in the stories. The planet Eden is
probably a peaceful monarchy.
There has never been any mentioning of wars, political upheavels, etc
in the story, so the angels seem to be a rather peaceful race, very advanced
in technology, and can solve any kind of problem they encounter.
However, they do have a low birth rate crisis, and this has been one of
their major concerns for quite a while. Apparently, they haven't
been able to do much to help as their only counter measure is to restrict
homosexual activities. They have laws against these activities and
will even give the death penalties in the extreme cases. Why the
angels are having such a crisis is unclear, but Raphael once mentioned
that it is because of their interests in the same sex and hence such laws
are made. The angels are also quite a small race, and with this low birth
rate, there's probably not much genetical variations from one generation
to the other. They have been able to deal with different new diseases
until the emergence of the "black cancer" which kills Seraphim and threatens
to endanger the whole race.
