Formula Vee 1200 and 1600 - Don't Be Left Behind! Round 4 CAMS NSW Formula Vee State Championships, Oran Park, July 19/20 - here TRIALS, SUCCESSES, OR FAILURES It was good to read that the FVAV has been "closely monitoring the introduction of 1600's into other states so as to learn from their trials, successes, and failures". All this without ever an FVAV representative having attended a single race meeting in NSW in the last two years, where 1200's and 1600's have run side by side in 14 race meetings so far in NSW without a single concern having been expressed. Formula Vee 1600 was introduced into NSW at the beginning of 2002. The 1600 specification included a "standard spec" VW Type 1 1600 engine, ball joint front end, standard only VW Type 1 disc brakes, free steering racks, longer Type 1 1300 axles, four stud wheels, and control "long Box" only. To date, about twenty either brand new or converted 1600 spec cars now constructed in NSW. About four more cars are being constructed now, with definite plans for many more. There have been 14 race meetings so far where 1200's and 1600's have raced side by side. There have been no crashes between 1200 and 1600 cars. Fields in NSW have grown from an average of low 20's to now the high 20's. We believe that fields will continue to increase to an average of around 30, which is our continuous target. Our profile and image in NSW is now equivalent to that of Formula Ford. Don't be left behind! Rent-a-FV FV interchange have set up an area just to connect renters and rentees for the upcoming 40th at RA - here
