My WRX page

Updated (31 March 2003)

Sorry for not updating my site in a while. I joined the United States Air Force, and I am still in training. My poor WRX has been in storage for about 6 months now. Anyways just thought I tell everyone that I am planning on buying a new STi, and hopefully I'll have pictures and stories up on my page in a few months.

Here is my WRX page where I will post things about my WRX like G-Tech Times, races that I get into, pictures, and any modifications that I make to my car. Stay tuned to this page for any updates that I make.
My Car is a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX, Silver, and a 5-speed.
227 bhp @ 6000 rpm
217 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
Redline 7000 rpm

My G-Tech Test Numbers
0-60 Times (Stock, with no mods)
6.63 seconds with very easy launch
6.19 seconds with launch at 3000 RPM
5.90 seconds with launch at 3000 RPM
5.93 seconds with launch at 3000 RPM
5.98 seconds with launch at 3000 RPM
5.93 seconds with launch at 3200 RPM
5.65 seconds drop clutch launch at 4000 RPM

1/4 mile Times (Stock, with no mods)
15.19 @ 94.3 mph with a 0-60 of 6.39 and 4 people in the car.
14.73 @ 95.0 mph with a 0-60 of 5.93 just me in the car.
14.61 @ 95.9 mph with a 0-60 of 5.89.
14.49 @ 96.2 mph with a 0-60 of 5.72.

G-Tech Horsepower numbers, as a baseline for my upcoming modifications.

1st run 192 Hp
2nd run 191 Hp
3rd run 190 Hp
4th run 189 Hp
5th run 193 Hp

I think I'm going to make my baseline stock Horsepower 190.

These runs were accelerating through 1st and 2nd gear and part way through 3rd gear, up to about 70-80 mph.
According to G-Tech, these power numbers represent power to the wheels.
I made a few G-Tech runs right before I put on my Exhaust, with high temps, and high humidity, and came up with an average of 176 Hp.
After my exhaust was on I tried a few more runs in similar weather, and came up with an average of 188 Hp, so a gain of 12 Hp at the wheels with the BPM GT Exhaust system.

My first day at the drags (Rock Falls Raceway)
1st run = 15.112 @ 90.40 mph
2nd run = 14.674 @ 91.03
3rd run = 14.761 @ 91.11
4th run = 14.749 @ 91.03
5th run = 14.802 @ 91.80
My fastest run time slip =
60' = 2.034
330 = 5.999
1/8 = 9.348 @ 73.59
1000 = 12.220
1/4 = 14.674 @ 91.03 mph

Car and Driver Magazine test numbers
0-60 5.8 seconds 1/4 mile 14.7 @ 93 mph

Road & Track Magazine test numbers
0-60 5.7 seconds 1/4 mile 14.4 @ 95.4 mph

Races so far.
(3-23-01) My WRX vs. 199? Plymouth Acclaim. Ha, I took a very easy launch, and stayed even with him for about 1.5 seconds, then my turbo spooled up and I pulled easily away. Winner=Me

(3-24-01) My WRX vs. 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS with an intake. Off the start the 2.5RS pulls off to a couple car length lead (I totally messed up my launch, almost killed it.) but go blowing by the 2.5 RS in Second gear. Winner=Me

(3-24-01) My WRX vs. 1993(4)? Ford Probe GT vs. 1995-9? Mitsubishi Eclipse RS. This time I get a better launch, and never lose the lead, the Probe GT got second I believe. Winner=Me.

(4-1-01) My WRX vs. 1995? Pontiac Grand Prix GT. There are about 4 High School Aged kids in the Grand Prix, I take off at normal speed, not thinking that they are going to race. Then I hear there tires squealing, so I floor it and pull easily away once again. After I let off they pull up beside me and give a thumbs up, then they go speeding off. Winner=Me

(4-15-01) My WRX vs. 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24. I raced this one twice, the first time, I rolled slowly from the line and he pulled to about 3/4 of a car length ahead and I passed him at the end of second gear. The second time, I launched harder (about 3000 RPM) and pulled easily away. Winner=Me

(5-10-01) My 2002 WRX vs. 1987? Mid to late 80's V8 Camaro. I pulled up next to him at a light, and we both took off normal, then I accelerated ahead (we weren't racing) he caught up a little bit later and tried to show off his V8 power by accelerating past me. Then we hit another red light, and it was show time. We both took off accelerating hard, and I pulled to an immediate car length lead that only got bigger until I had to slow down and turn off. Winner=ME

(6-05-01) My 2002 WRX vs. 1997-99 Dodge Neon. The neon had some nice looking wheels on it, but I don't know if he had any performance mods done. We roll off of the light, and he starts accelerating hard, so I floor it and pull easily away, up to 50 mph then I stop accelerating. He pulls up next to me smiling and signals nice car. Then drives off. Winner=Me

(7-22-01) My 2002 WRX vs. 1999+ Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. We pulled from the light, not racing, and as soon as I shifted into 2nd gear the GTP took off. My turbo wasn't spooled at all, but I gassed it anyway. The GTP was about a car length ahead of me at this time, and accelerating hard. After my turbo was spooled I started catching up, and then easily pulled away, and was going about 80 mph, which is faster than I usually go, and I don't recommend doing this yourself. Just Race to the speed limit, then steady your speed off, or better yet, take it to the track. Winner=ME

(4-8-02) Ok, I'm driving down the road and a 1999? Blue Civic Si passes me. Were are not racing or anything, just driving down the road. We hit a red light, and I take off a little slow, then floor it and roast him. I'm not sure if he was trying or not? Then he comes up next to me, and gasses it and accelerates away, going about 80-90 mph in a 45 zone. I just keep driving normal. Another Red light pops up, and this time I know he is going to try. I take another easy start, then gas it, while his tires were spinning the whole time. We are dead even through first gear, then shift to second gear. Dead Even through second gear. Caught me off gaurd. Then the shift to third, I miss third, and he goes flying by me. He slows down, and we give each other the thumbs up. So I lose, to a Honda Civic, how embarassing. His car sounded nice, like a well put together Civic Should. And all he had that I could see on the Exterior is Exhaust, and Wheels, and some kind of not stock Suspension. Oh well, had to happen some time. Winner=Him

Races Summary
Total Races=8

I am happy to tell everyone, that I am finally getting into autocross. Autocross is WAY more fun than drag racing (IMO). And I suggest that everyone try it at least once, to see if you like it, I can guarantee that you will. It doesn't matter what kind of car (or truck) that you have, you can race it. My first autocross went fairly well, with me learning quite a bit about my car and the way it handles. You can go here to see how I did. I raced in DSPT, and was car number 227. Or you can go here and try to find an autocross event near you.

(8-05-01) My second ever autocross is now history. This autocross took place in La Crosse, Wisconsin. All I can say is that this is some of the most fun I have ever had. I brought a friend who had never been to an autocross before, and took him for a ride around the track, and now I think he's hooked. I did better with my car this time around, and learned quite a bit more about its handling characteristics. You can go here to see how I did (results still not posted yet). I raced in DSP and was again car number 227. I know that the first place car was running race tires, and I'm not sure about the second place car, everyone else was on street tires.

(8-19-01) Finished my third autocross. The track was very tight, and slick, I hardly ever shifted into 2nd gear. There was a little mistake by one of the drivers, who took too many laps and collided with a car that had just started. Both car were ok, just looked like scuffed paint, and broken lights. Anyway you can go here to see how I did. I raced in ESPT and was car 227.

(9-16-01) Just got back from my forth autocross. Once again held in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The La Crosse Autox's are held on an asphalt stock car track, with brick walls all around you, so if you make a big enough mistake, you can hit one. Anyway, this was a pretty fast course today, with a wide open run around turn 4 and 3 of the raceway (we ran clockwise). Exiting the turn went right into a slalom, which slowed us down a bit. Then it went through the infield, and back around onto the front straight. I think I did fairly well, today, and learned quite a bit more about the handling of my car. I'll post results when I get them.

(9-23-01) Finished my 5th autox today, up in St. Paul MN. The track was pretty tight, with me never shifting out of first gear. I did however hit the rev limiter a couple of times. I am starting to get the hang of my car a little better, and I am getting closer to beating my competition. I did fairly well compared to alot of people I think. The results are here. I was car number 227 and raced in ESPT.

(10-8-01)Well, yesterday was my final autox of the year, and it was a blast. This was my sixth autox ever. It was a pretty tight track, with me never getting out of 1st gear with my WRX. There were four cars in my class: Me(WRX), another WRX, Mustang GT, and Mitshubishi Eclipse. I ended up getting my first win, by a few tenths of a second. After the official runs were over, they offered "buck" runs, were you pay $1 for any extra fun runs you would like to make. As I was watching some of the fun runs, I decided to ask the Driver of a Z06 corvette for a ride, and he said sure. All I can say after riding in that car, is WOW, man does that thing accelerate, decelerate, and corner well. Now I just wish I had enough money to buy one. The results should be here soon. Car #227 ESPT.
