What's the difference between house sitting and boarding? House sitting allows your pet to remain in its natural environment, minimizing the stress of travel and adjusting to a new environment. This is especially recommended for cats and larger reptiles. Boarding requires your pet to be transferred from its home to a housing facility; normally animals such as hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, and small reptiles are best recommended for this service. An added advantage of house sitting is not having to worry about your mail and newspapers piling up in the mailbox, or plants becoming wilted while you're gone. We've got it all covered. Best of all, your kitty can sit by its favorite window or lounge on its favorite couch. Animals who are shy, easily susceptible to car sickness, or who are generally not used to be taken away from their accustomed environment are recommended to advise their owner to opt for house sitting as opposed to boarding. |
What is the longest an animal can be boarded or house-sat for? Normally there is no minimum or maximum amount of time. Generally speaking, owners tend to return within a month of travel, but should the trip extend beyond this amount of time, accomodations may be made. We've had clients visit for as little as a few hours, and as long as three months. Any length of time is normally acceptable, although it should be specified on your contract prior to departure, unless otherwise negotiated. |
Why is it so hard to find a set price list? It is easy to get frustrated comparing prices for boarding: it is sometimes difficult to obtain definite prices without being interviewed or filling out contracts. However, different animals have different needs; some require very specific feeding or medication during their stay, while others are content with off-the-shelf food and tap water. Some prefer to be left alone, while others are reliant on a lot of cuddling and playtime. Depending on the individual needs of your pet, the size of the cage or aquarium, and the period of time you will be gone for, the price may fluctuate slightly. In terms of house sitting, prices range depending on the travelling distance to your home, and what tasks are required to be completed during the course of your absence. Our rate page gives a general idea of how much you should be expecting to pay for daily services, although this price may fluctuate within a few dollars depending on the special needs of your pet and the duration of their stay. With a small amount of information, we can provide you with an exact price within twenty-four hours, in addition to detailing the average prices of some of our competitors. Whatever your choice is, and wherever you choose to board your pet, we are always glad that you are responsible enough to seek a supervisor for your pet during your absence. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner! |
