"Dish Dressers"
Dish dressers were the predecessors to modern day buffet hutches. Traditionally these pieces would have been found in the kitchen next to the hearth where they were used as both storage cupboards and countertops for cooking and baking. Later in the 1800`s these dish dressers began appearing with detachable tops and glass doors.
