I am originally from rural and hilly Belmont County, Ohio, where I graduated from Union Local High School. |
After high school, I attended Bowling Green State University on a National Merit Scholarship and earned Summa Cum Laude honors in 1993 with a bachelors degree in political science (minor in economics). |
From 1993 to 1994, I worked for the Center for Governmental Research and Public Service in Bowling Green, Ohio. While there I earned my masters degree in Public Administration with a 4.0 GPA in August of 1994. I also completed my master's thesis (Appalachia: Backwar on a Stranger's Land?) and co-authored Defiance County Model Zoning Code. |
Since 1994, I have worked in various positions in local government and private business. I have also provided pulpit supply for area Christian churches. |
In 1998, I went back to school to earn my social studies teaching certificate. I completed my student teaching at Fostoria Middle School and was employed in a long-term substitute position at Northwood High School. |
Currently (and hopefully for years to come), I teach American History, Civil War, Psych/Soc, World History and Govt/Econ at Waynesfield Goshen High School. I think this is a great school and great community and am pleased to be a part of it. |
My wife and I were married in 1998 and our first home was outside of Weston, Ohio. She worked at the McComb Church of Christ and at McKenzie's Flowers in Weston. She currently works full-time as the office manager for the McComb Church of Christ. In 2001, we sold our house in Weston and moved to McComb, Ohio. |
While an undergraduate student, I was awarded a Continuing Education grant in order to spend a summer in Europe to travel and study at the Groupe Ecole Supereire de Commerce in Nantes, France. |

This was our house in McComb. We lived there for 5 years before building our new home south of town in 2006. |
