Club Calendar

The club Calendar is probably one of the most underused features. That's probably because it seems to have very little use except for scheduling chats and the odd club event. But things are not always what they seem.....

The Calendar can be used as a club journal of sorts. You can add any or all of the following things to the Calendar:

Club stats--record the club stats that appear on your home page on a more permanent basis.

Members birthdays--you can encourage members to add their birthdays, if your club encourages members to get to know one another. This may not be appropriate to more serious clubs.

Club contests and other events--every time your club has any kind of event, record it in the Calendar. Members who use their own Calendar will have the entries show up on it.

Summaries--summarize recent activity, discussions, etc., so members have an easy way to see what they may have missed if they've been away.

More--depending on the topic of your club.....

You should probably edit your Calendar section so it shows the monthly view. Most people will find this view most convenient. To edit your Calendar, go to "Calendar Options" under "Admin Tools". Where it says "Default View", change that to "Monthly".

To add events to your Calendar, go to "Calendar" and click on "Add" on the day you wish to add to. Fill in the information and use the "Notes" area for a description of the item. Members can also add things to the Calendar section.

Since the Calendar is such an underused feature, most people don't bother to look there. You may need to tell your members to look there and keep reminding them. For a great example of how the Calendar section can be used, go to Club Founders Forum. (You will need to join, at least temporarily, to view the Calendar.)
