Yahoo Problems
Yahoo is subject to several "glitches". As a founder, it is useful for you to be aware of some possible problems you or your members may run into and what to do about them. This page will be limited to "glitches" that affect clubs and/or the running of clubs.
You join a club, but it still says you are a guest--The club shows up on your list of clubs, but when you go there, you can't post or see non-public areas of the club. If the club is unlisted, you get the message "You are not allowed to access this club". If the club is listed, you can try unjoining and rejoining. If it's an unlisted club, you can try asking someone to reinvite you. Whatever you do, don't get the founder to delete you; you won't be allowed back in under the same name. If the reinvite doesn't work, you'll have to wait and try again in a few days. If nothing works, all you can do is wait and see. Writing to Yahoo may help. This club has been
deleted--Sometimes when trying to access your club you will get a screen
that says your club has been deleted. Once you have recovered from your heart
attack, just press Back on your browser and try again. It may take several
tries, and you may still not be able to access your club if Yahoo is having a
particularly bad day. Try again in 15 minutes or so. I can see the messages
are there, but when I try to read them I get sent to the first 40 messages!--Sometimes
you will see messages on the home page of a club or on your My Yahoo page, but
you can't get to them. If you only see it on your My Yahoo page, but can't
access it, it could just be that the message was deleted. More likely though, is
that you are experiencing the glitch that won't let you view the newest messages
for half an hour or so. You can always just wait until it decides to let you
view it. Any messages that are on the Messages list are viewable now, so try
clicking on Messages. There is a little trick you
can try, though. Copy and paste the link of the message to your address bar. The
link will look something like this: Just change the word
"messages" to the word "post" and you should be able to
access the message. To get to the next post, don't click on "Next".
Change the number at the end to the number of the post you want to see. In this
example the post is 9871, so change that to 9872 and so on. Thanks to Yahoo users
Starlobber and OldOnliner
for revealing and refining, respectively, this trick. Want to be informed when Yahoo Clubs are having glitches? Join the Clubs Problems Mailing List.
