No War With Iraq!

September 19, 2002

I'm ba-ack. Herewith is my 2 cents worth regarding the impending war with Iraq. It is in response to an e-mail I received earlier this evening. I may not tickle some ears, but that is fine with me. It is far more important to tell people unpleasant things they need to know, rather than to tickle their ears with what they want to hear. I do not say nice things about people who want to enslave me. -- dfn

GWB can mention the Constitution all he wants. However, there is no constitutional basis whatsoever for our impending war against Iraq. If he is really serious about going after nations that back terrorism, why does he not likewise go after Saudi Arabia? If he is really serious about going after governments that do horrible things to their people and, by the way, already have nukes, why does he not go after China? If having nukes, oppressing the citizenry and causing international instability is sufficient justification for starting a war against a nation, why did we never, in Barry Goldwater's words, "lob one into the men's room at the Kremlin"?

September 11 happened because there are hundreds of millions of people throughout the Muslim world who hate us with every fiber of their being and want us out of their part of the world, especially Saudi Arabia. You cannot throw your weight around the way we do and expect to have people love you.

Switzerland is rich and free and democratic. Yet you will note that there has never been a terrorist attack on Switzerland. In fact, neither Hitler, Stalin, Kaiser Bill, nor Napoleon ever invaded them. Why? Because the Swiss mind their own business. They are armed to the teeth and use their military STRICTLY for national DEFENSE. It is high time we returned to the vision of the Founders. Namely, peace and commerce with all and entangling alliances with none.

Oh well, I guess it all depends what your definition of defense is.

The key to the whole issue is at the bottom of the resolution where is mentions the Constitution granting our Commander in Chief the AUTHORITY to defend America as he sees fit. -Peter Thursday, September 19, 2002 FOXNews Click on the URL below for the rest of this story: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,63615,00.html
