Notes for Frank THURTELL
Frank Thurtell is listed in the 1880 U.S. Census Soundex for Webster
County, Elkhorn Township, Iowa (Vol. 32, E.D. 220, Sheet 23, Line 25) as
being age 1 and born in Wisconsin. He is shown living with his parents,
Frank and Eva Thurtell, and his sisters Mary age 4 and Olive age 2.
He is listed in the U.S. Census for Iowa for 1900 (Vol. 60, ED 102, SD
11, Sheet 7, Line 12) as living in Lincoln Township, Plymouth County,
Iowa, and being a white male, age 22, born in May 1878 in Wisconsin,
although the census soundex showed his age was 21. He is listed as
single and a farm laborer and is enumerated with the family of Ada Henry,
who is a widowed farmer age 26, born in Iowa in February 1874, who has
five children, the oldest of whom is only 8.
Family records show he died of typhoid fever at age 23.
