Our Dogs
Gemini is a fairly small, independent rescue dedicated to saving lives and placing dogs into loving, forever homes. We work mainly with Rottweilers and Pit Bull breeds and occasionally other large breeds, space permitting. Great care is given to match each dog with the perfect home environment and family it requires.

We will not knowingly take in people agressive dogs and will
never adopt out a dog that has been found to have an unstable temperment. Each dog that comes to our rescue is evaluated in different situations with people and other animals to ensure that he/she will make a good companion. This takes place over a period of time before being placed up for adoption.

All dogs taken in are spayed/neutered, given Rabies & DHLPP vaccinations, heartworm tested, and put on preventatives. All dogs leave here with a health certificate and known veterinary history. Any health problems are made known to potential adopters upfront.

People seeking to adopt a dog from us are required to fill out an adoption application or be given an "interview" over the phone. Please don't let this intimidate you, we are only trying to learn more about what kind of dog would best suit you and is also in the best interest of our dogs. We will ask for a veterinary reference as well as three other people who will give reference for you. A homecheck may be required depending on distance.

We do charge an adoption fee as we bear all expenses of feeding, housing, some transportation, and vet care. In most cases it does not come close to the money invested in each dog, but ensures that our rescue efforts may continue. There is also an adoption contract to sign for the well-being of the dog in his/her new home.

Transportation can be arranged to any state for people looking to adopt from us here in Minnesota. There are many volunteer "angels" across the U.S that donate time and gas to get dogs to their forever homes, wherever it may be. This is a  wonderful network of people who can make almost anything possible! I have had the pleasure of working with alot of these individuals. So don't let distance keep you from finding your perfect companion !

We are always willing to answer any questions that may come up after adopting from us. Whether it may be about nutrition, care, or training, please feel free to contact us. If we can't help we will do our best to put you in contact with someone who can. Our rescues are very important to us and we have a vested interest in them for the rest of their lives. It does not end when they leave here. We also LOVE to get pictures of them with their new family to add to our
Success Stories page!

Lastly, we are very interested in educating the public about our beloved Rottweiler and Pit Bull breeds. These dogs have been maligned in the media. These are not viscious killers by nature, but very much family dogs. They are extremely loyal and loving creatures. The sad thing is that they are
overbred and victims of irresponsible ownership. People make bad dogs! Early and continuous training and leadership will help your dog become a great companion and member of society. If you are interested in more information on these breeds, please contact us.
