Place, Time and Directions

National Werewolf: the Apocalypse game sessions are generally restricted to national conventions and other special events. National plot kits will be provided to appropriate STs prior to these special events. A number of national level plot kits, each designed to address a different aspect of the World of Darkness, will be provided to Canadian STs in so that every chapter should have available to them a plot kit that will suit their local theme and mood. STs are encouraged to use these resources.

Theme and Mood

Extinction, Greed, Exploitation, and Despair:

Canada is unique in the world of darkness. While other countries are often fighting against over-population and a dwindling wilderness, Canada's battle is trying to preserve their wilderness from industrialization and exploitation. The list is extensive: the poisonous Tar Ponds in Sydney, Nova Scotia; the near extinction of the gray wolf in the Atlantic provinces; extensive clear-cutting the in the forests of Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia; the corporate take-over of agriculture in the prairies; the depletion of cod in the Grand Banks of Newfoundland.

And it is not only the natural resources of Canada that are under attack, but the Native people of Canada have been engaged in a losing battle against emigration of the European long before confederation. Their land, their culture, and their language is quickly extinguishing and with every new generation, more of their history becomes lost.

Small towns and business are being swallowed whole by the lack of government interest and corporate greed. The top level of government appears to care nothing for the state of the country, which leaves the lower levels of government desperately fighting an impossible war. Because of the apathy of the government, poverty is rising in the congested cities that are sparsely scattered along the southern borders of Canada, and health-care system is threatened and unemployment rates are at record-breaking highs. The loss of faith in their country and facing the extermination of their way of life, Canadians are left with only despair, desperation, and hopelessness, shrouded in a thin hope that the country that they love so much will help to protect them.

The gothic/punk atmosphere of World of Darkness is explored through the fight against the corporate "machine" and by the garou's need to bury themselves in ritual in order to face their inevitable extinction

Style

An emphasis will be placed on drama and role-play, rather than challenges and rules. High drama, particularly with ritual, will be the primary focus of this venue.
Plot kits that are provided to STs are going to be mostly optional. A resource database will be created to provide STs with knowledge of the WoD as it affects the garou. Corporation, government, environmental and cultural concerns, will be explored in great detail and STs are encouraged to use the information to flesh out the world in which their game takes place. These plot kits will rarely focus on individual garou and shifters, as garou are pack creatures, so therefore will most often be presented through tribal, cultural, and spiritual affiliations.

Antagonists

Spiritual Warfare, Pentex affiliations, and Black Spiral Dancers, will all have a place in the national venue. Internal conflict within septs is encouraged, as the most dramatic scenes are rarely found from interaction with NPCs, but are instead with each other. This section will be updated as the venue setting continues to grow.

Player Advisory: The Garou inhabit a dark and savage world. From time to time, the Storytellers in this venue will use adult themes, vivid descriptions, and contentious social issues to bring the World of Darkness to life. For those familiar with the White Wolf tabletop material, some plot elements or themes could be considered "Black Dog" material. Such themes and issues may include racism, sexism, bigotry, prejudice, sexual assault, and extreme violence. If, at any time, a player feels uncomfortable with a scene, the player should immediately inform the Storyteller.
