You beastie fan, at least once in your life you must have compared the Beasties with the Beatles. This need to compare them is certainly more frequent among the fans of both bands. But even if you don't like the Beatles (how couldn't you), you probably at least once tried to see if the Beasties could be a modern version of them. Being a huge fan of both bands I have done so, many times. I've compared their careers, personalities and records, and here I try to put in words what has been on my mind for a while. Its a fan point of view. Therefore, what you'll read are personal opinions, you can totally disagree with them, if you'd like to share your opinions with me I'll be glad to read what you think. One thing you cant say though, is that there are not similarities between them, if even the son of the man , said this, you can disagree with me on that. But if you are still doubting me, read on, and let me convince you. |

Careers |
| At a first glance you
won't find many similarities between their careers, but just look closely. Let me
tell you a story about one band...They
started playing together at a very young age, just for the fun of it. The
type of music they played was the one they were into at the time (Skiffle
- Hardcore), then they started listening to a new musical style that had its
origin in the black music, it was already very popular among black
audiences but were still in the process to becoming popular worldwide (Rock'n'Roll
- Rap).
They fell in love with this style and adopted it from then on. They started
playing in small venues everywhere, and didn't had to wait too long (if
you compare them to other bands) to get famous. Just before that they had a change in the line up
(Ringo - Adam).
Then they got famous, and helped popularize the musical genre they played, their fame came so fast that some critics said and others thought they were one hit wonders, or even the result of their producers works. But then they surprized the world showing they had much talented, getting better with each new album, and were during the course of their careers extremily creative, being a huge influence on others. Not only that, but they helped spawn a whole cultural movement, being influential not only with the music, but in fashion, videomaking, through writings, and creating a label of their own (Apple - GR), the later was very productive for a while but was shut down due to finantial problems. They made a mark in music history and will be remebered for years. The end. So what do you think, amazing huh? I think the main difference that should be noted is that the Beatles career was shorter and they were more prolific, but thats about it I guess. And of course everything Beatly happened in a bigger scale, but still... the similarities are there.
