Blitz as a venue was around for a long time before Steve Strange days, it was originally a World War 2 themed wine bar.  
I'm not sure when it opened but I started going there from about 76/77 and worked behind the bar around 77 /78 .
I was studying at Central school of Art  and had  friends at St Martins School of Art so lots of us used to end up there.  Biddie and Eve were the resident act and sang there 2 or 3 times a week
I worked at the Blitz  when Biddie &  Eve were  appearing but stopped before Steve Strange took over the door
Here's a set of pictures taken at the Blitz some time in 1977 - It was a fancy dress party - not sure what the theme  was  but Philip Salon came as a holiday . I was 'Brains ' from Thunderbirds
