AviUtl Tips and Tricks

How to install AviUtl ?
AviUtl doesn’t require any installation : just unzip the files to a folder of your choice.
The first time you will open AviUtl you won’t be able to read the menus unless you understand japanese, so you will want to change the language. You may also want to configure AviUtl.

Is AviUtl realy free?
Yes! No adware, no spyware, no popupware, no virus, no undeletable porn on desktop, no registration hasseling , no timebomb….

Is AviUtl realy safe?
Yes! It can run round the clock without a glitch. It's a standalone program. No crash, no file permanently deleted, no system disaster…

How to change the language ?

Download the full setting files package  , extract the whole content in the AviUtl folder and replace the files.

or, if it doesn't work:
After you dowloaded the 0.99 version, downlaod the english patches here.
Extract the enu098d.aul to the AviUtl folder.
Open AviUtl. The menu is still in japanese.
Scroll down the first menu from the left (were usualy the " file " menu is)
Clic on the second item from bottom, there you will find an item reading " _____ (language) "
Clic on it and chose english.

How to configure AviUtl ?
Once the language is changed you will find some of the basic configuration settings under the " File " " General settings " menu, but not all.
For example the keyboard hotkeys customization won’t be available.
To have access all the settings, you have to close AviUtl and move the enu098d.aul to another location, for example a temporary folder, then, replace it by enu098b.aul.
Open AviUtl : under " general settings " you will find all the settings available.
I advice to set the same hotkeys as in VirtualDub, for example shift+right or left arrow as hotkey to move from one keyframe to another, so that you don’t mix all the hotkeys when using both programs (that's aleady implemented in the "full setting files package").
Close AviUtl
Remove the enu098b.aul file and bring the enu098d.aul file back to the AviUtl folder.

How to work with AviUtl ?
AviUtl is very easy and the names in the menus speak for themselves. The only thing you have to do is to open an video file and start editing . Read more tips and tricks on video file editing and plugins.

How to install the plugins ?
Plugins for AviUtl doesn’t require any installation neither.
Just unzip them to the AviUtl folder, the same folder as that of Aviutl.exe
Some plugins are translated in english but won’t appear in english in the menu.
Some plugins are not translated at all and therefore quite tricky to use.
Don’t install every AviUtl plugins you find on the net because many plugins are already imbedded in the 0.99 version. Clic here for the list of the realy useful AviUtl plugins and to see how they look like in the menus.
