DEFINATIONS

ADJECTIVE A word that describes a noun or pronoun. A tall handsome stranger, "tall" & "handsome are adjectives
ADVERB A word usually used to describe a verb or adjective. Adverbs tell how, when, where, how often, how much something happens; "slowly, late, soon"
ANTONYM A word that means the opposite of another word.
COMMAND: Is a sentence that tells someone to do something. A command ends with a period.
COMMON NOUN Names a person, place or thing (small letter) i.e. dog - book
CONSONANTS A speech sound that is not a vowel. Consonants are represented by a written letters b, m, r, etc.
CONTRACTION Two words combined with an apostrophe, such as can't, wouldn't, I'd, won't
EXCLAMATION: Is a sentence that shows strong feelings such as anger or excitement. It ends with an exclamation point!
HOMOPHONE The same sounding words with difference meanings i.e. see; sea, flower; flour; I; eye 
NOUN: A word that names a person, place or thing. The words dog, France and happiness are all nouns.
PLURAL The form or a word used for two or more of something. The plural of child is children.
PREDICATE: The predicate of a sentence tells what the subject is doing, has done or will do.
PREPOSITION: A word such as "with" or "on" that shows the relation of a noun or pronoun to other items in a sentence. "The book with a red cover is on the table".
PRO-NOUN A word that is used in place of a noun. "I, me, he and it" are all pronouns.
PROPER NOUNS Is the name of a particular person, place or thing such as Biancha, Calgary. A proper noun starts with a capital letter.
QUESTION Is a sentence that asks something. It ends with a ?
SINGULAR:  The form of a word used for one thing or one person.
STATEMENT: Is a sentence that tells something. It ends with a period.
SUBJECT: Who or what a sentence is called the subject.
SYLLABLE A unit of sound in a word. A syllable contains a vowel and possibly one or more consonants. The word LONG contains one syllable.
SYNONYM A word that means the same or nearly the same as another word.
SYNONYMOUS: Having the same or almost the same meaning. The words gigantic & huge are synonymous.
