Antigone |
A play by Sophocles |
Story: Originally set in Thebes after the death of Eteocles and Polynices, sons of Oedipus the King. It will be placed in a post modern civilization. Creon, the new leader, has declared that the loyal Eteocles be given full honors at his funeral, while the rebel Polynices be left to rot in the wilderness. The two sisters, Ismene and Antigone hold different views on this. Antigone wishes to go against man's law and bury her brother, while Ismene is too frightened to risk her life. At the tragic closing of the play, the viewer is left wondering who actually is the real villain in the show. Dates: September 20,21,22 (subject to change) |
