***A Memory As I observe Veterans Day I think of my dad who served His country well in WW II He loved his country so much I still remember how he and I grieved When J.F. Kennedy was assassinated I guess it was how I feel now Over the tragedy of September 11, 2001 Dad and Mom raised 5 children He came home from the battlegrounds of Europe Only to be killed in battle of the inner city So Dad, a memory of you today-In Observance of Veterans Day! ***Vitamin D May Cut Risk of Type 1 Diabetes Researchers report that infants who receive the recommended daily dose of vitamin D may have a lower risk of developing type 1 diabetes. According to a recent study published in the November 3, 2001 issue of The Lancet, babies who received at least 2,000 international units of vitamin D daily were nearly 80% less likely to develop type 1 diabetes over the next three decades, compared with infants who had lower intakes of the vitamin. ***Native Americans Fight Back Against Diabetes Located south of Phoenix, AZ, the Pima Indian Reservation's Gila River Community has one of the highest rates of diabetes in the world. Half of the adults in this community have diabetes, and 5 percent of children 15-18 years old have the disease. Even worse, the diabetes prevalence rates are rising while the age at which the disease develops continues to fall. Many in this community, however, beginning with the staff of the St. Peter's Indian Mission School, are taking steps to bring health and hope back to the reservation.

Seems that my favorite niece got married.I'm really happy to hear she finally trusted a man enough to walk down the isle again. Lance is a wonderful man and terrific Step-Father. Dear Friends, In the last couple of weeks Helen's condition has deteriorated dramatically. In the last couple of visits to the hospital it has been discovered the part of her bowel has collapsed and whenever she trys to eat it causes her great pain. What she does manage to eat she usually throws back up. Both of her kidneys have stones in them and because of her blood condition they cannot operate on her, this will eventually lead to kidney failure. Her Chronic Pain condition cannot be treated aggressively because the Pain Patch causes her breathing problems and makes her heart race. Thereby causing higher blood pressure. The doctors have indicated that there is nothing more that they can do except to operate and the chances of success are minimal. Less than 15 % chance of survival. It is so bad that even a glass of water will cause her bowel to spasm creating immense pain to the point that it causes her to cry uncontrollably. I would like to ask that you send prayers and prayer requests for her as we both believe that everything is now in God's hands. At the present rate the doctors feel that she may have two years. However Helen herself feels that she may not be here to celebrate our 20 anniversary on Dec 19. The things she suffers from are numerous and I will list them here for you..... Unstable angina - a heart condition that is often fatal ~ Lupus - a autoimmune disease that attacked your own healthy organs. ~ Fibromyalgia - related to Lupus and this one attacks the muscle and nervous system, ~ Reoccurring Blood Clots - a condition caused by anti-nuclear antibodies and cardiolupin antibodies in her blood (This is a condition that is hereditary) Collapsed Transverse Colon - Her Upper bowel ~ Kidney malfunction - Kidney stones ~ Irritable Bowel Syndrome - Unable to be regular ~ Numerous allergies to drugs - many to drugs that could in other people help ease or cure the above conditions. ~ So you can see that your Prayers are desperately needed.
