2116: Shamokin Fire Bureau dispatched on a first alarm, working commercial building fire at the Skate-R-Way (Gillys Auto and Repair Center. Battaltion Chief Catino arrived requesting a second alarm transmitted along with the first and second due R.I.T Units. Heavy black smoke and fire to side D of the building, near by homes were evacuated by personnel, first arriving engine, E-11 grabbed the hydrant at Rock and Spurzheim, advanced a 2 1/2 blitz line to side D, 1 3/4 line to side A of the building. Second engine E-21 grabbed the hydrant on Terrance Avenue and advanced a 5 inch line with the portabe gun. Engine 41 was placed onto side D of the structure for use of the Squirt, Truck 34 set up to the rear of engine 41 for truck operations. Mt Carmel Truck 2 was placed at the side A of the building and set of for truck ops. The fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes by personnel, these guys once again prevailed showing the dedication to stoping and preventing a major major problem.
