******* Judge: 'Gay'-diversity week violated rights of Christian Rules in favor of student whose religious views against homosexuality excluded from program
******* Posted: December 7, 20036 1:00 a.m. Eastern
******* ?2003 WorldNetDaily.com
******* A federal judge in Detroit has upheld the constitutional right of a Christian student to express her religious beliefs in opposition to homosexuality during her high school's 2002 "Diversity Week" program.
******* The case involved a federal lawsuit filed by the Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm, on behalf of student Betsy Hansen, whose religious views against homosexuality were censored and excluded from the program held at Ann Arbor's Pioneer High School.
******* During the program, Pioneer High School officials prevented Hansen from expressing her Roman Catholic view on homosexuality at the "Homosexuality and Religion" panel, and they censored a speech she was asked to give on the topic, ''What Diversity Means to Me.''
******* School officials claimed Betsy's religious view toward homosexuality was a ''negative'' message and would ''water-down'' the ''positive'' religious message that they wanted to convey ?that homosexual behavior is not immoral or sinful.
******* The federal civil rights lawsuit filed by the Thomas More Law Center alleged that school officials violated Hansen's constitutional rights to freedom of speech, free exercise of religion, and the equal protection of the law. Moreover, the lawsuit alleged that school officials coerced students to accept the religious belief that homosexual activity is not immoral or sinful in violation of the Constitution.
******* School officials handpicked religious leaders who endorsed the school's pro-homosexual "religious" belief to sit on the panel, and they denied Hansen's request to have a panel member who would express the Roman Catholic belief on homosexuality.
******* Judge Gerald Rosen's 70-page opinion began with blistering criticism of the school:
******* "This case presents the ironic, and unfortunate, paradox of a public high school celebrating 'diversity' by refusing to permit the presentation to students of an 'unwelcomed' viewpoint on the topic of homosexuality and religion, while actively promoting the competing view. This practice of 'one-way diversity,' unsettling in itself, was rendered still more troubling ?both constitutionally and ethically ?by the fact that the approved viewpoint was, in one manifestation, presented to students as religious doctrine by six clerics (some in full garb) quoting from religious scripture. In its other manifestation, it resulted in the censorship by school administrators of a student's speech about "what diversity means to me," removing that portion of the speech in which the student described the unapproved viewpoint.''
******* Judge Rosen held that the Ann Arbor Public Schools and several of its employees violated Hansen's constitutional rights to freedom of speech and the equal protection of the law. He also concluded that the school officials violated the Establishment Clause by inviting the pro-gay clergy to hold a panel on "Homosexuality and Religion."
******* Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Law Center, applauded Judge Rosen for his strongly worded opinion, ''Judge Rosen displayed judicial courage by refusing to bend to the winds of political correctness, and he decided the case according to the well established law. This is a tremendous victory for the First Amendment rights of Christian students and a tremendous defeat for those who consider public schools as their private platform to advance the homosexual agenda.''

******* item 2 GREG QUINLAN'S TESTIMONY TO A SENATE COMMITTEE
******* From: "PFOX"
******* Date: Tue, 24 Feb 2004
******* Mr. Chairman and members of the Senate Finance and Financial Institutions Committee, thank you for the opportunity to testify on the Defense of Marriage Act for Ohio.
******* I am Greg Quinlan and this is my beautiful Wife Cheryl.
******* I left the homosexual life style over eleven years ago. My wife Cheryl
did the same over four years ago.
******* Homosexuality is a clinical developmental gender identity disorder.
There is quantitative scientific research on the subject and thousands of individual case studies that prove, that persons with homosexual ideations can and have changed through clinical therapy and counseling. There is no biological evidence, not one repeatable study, not a single genetic test that gives any validity to homosexual behavior as a born?trait. No one is born Gay, no one! Homosexuality is an emotional disorder, a pathology that can be and has been effectively changed when a person is highly motivated to change.
******* Both my wife and I are victims of child abuse. We are the product of a
pop culture that regards human beings as a commodity for one anothers gratification, disrespecting the rights endowed by their creator of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.?We know first hand that being GAY?is not happy, but a lifestyle that leaves you broken and empty.
******* Large numbers of homosexuals have had severe emotional trauma early in
life, such as the loss of a parent through death or divorce, sexual abuse, or some other upheaval.
******* As a nurse, I watched 100 of my friends and acquaintances die of AIDS
and AIDS related illnesses. After that I stopped counting. The devastation of homosexual behavior, the cumulative effect that that behavior has brought and continues to bring is incalculable.
******* I lived over nine years of my life as a homosexual. In my attempt to
justify being GAY,?I founded the Dayton Committee for the Human Rights
Campaign Fund in 1989, raising thousands of dollars for the nations largest homosexual organization.
******* Has a volunteer for HRCF (has it was called then) I lobbied Ohios
Congressional delegation both at home and in Washington DC several times a year. I helped gain the successful passage, along with others, of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Ryan White AIDS Act, the Breast and Cervical Cancer Reduction Act, and other legislation of interest to the homosexual culture.
******* In 1998 I founded PRO-FAMILY NETWORK. PRO-FAMILY NETWORK is a Christian
Family Advocacy organization fighting for the civil liberties of the unborn and Biblical Christian believers. Also during this time I started, with the help of my pastors wife, a ministry at Solid Rock Church in Monroe, Ohio. Living Free Ministries helps those who want to leave the homosexual lifestyle deal with the
issues that brought them to gender identity confusion. We have helped scores of people to follow the Manufacturers guidelines for successful living.
******* So what does all of this have to do with the Defense of Marriage Act
for Ohio? Everything!
******* Homosexuals only represent 1-3% of the general population. Not the 10%
claimed by Alfred Kinsey (a documented fraud) and the Kinsey Sex Institute that bears his name. Therefore it is impossible not to discuss Same Sex Attraction Disorder (SSAD) when discussing this issue.
******* One of the most obvious examples of the gender identity disorder known
as Homosexuality happened in the 123rd General Assembly with a failed attempt by Rep. Otto Beatty to expand Ohios Ethnic Intimidation Law to include sexual orientation. Two individuals testified. They were men, dressed in womens clothing, taking on the names of women. They claimed they were born in the wrong bodies. Before the Criminal Justice Committee was the clinical walking, talking evidence of severe gender identity confusion. But some members of that committee in the 123rd G.A. enabled that confusion with sympathy instead of empathy.
******* Tens of thousands of homosexuals have changed and more desire to change. Homosexuality is a behavior -- not a genetic trait. Based on verifiable
evidence, there is no justification for same sex marriage, civil unions or domestic partnership legislation. None.
******* My wife and I are living proof, along with thousands of others, that
persons with same sex attraction can and have changed, and thereby have the right to marry.
******* We have chosen to follow the Manufactures?specific guidelines for our
lives. That means, committed to one another as man and woman.
******* Remember Vermont, whose state motto is Dont Tread on Me.? Well, with
Paul Bunyon-like boots, Vermonts Supreme Court tread on the entire nation. The Vermont Supreme Courts decision, in spite of over two hundred years of American history, suddenly found that their state constitution allows for gay marriage or domestic partnership. I am really curious, how did they miss that for two hundred years?!
******* ow Massachusetts has arrogantly instructed their legislature, in a
complete reversal of powers, to change their laws regarding marriage. Four Massachusetts black-robed ?justices?suddenly found that their state constitution allowed for gay marriage. Now how did Massachusetts with over 350 years of common law and 225 years of constitutional law overlook the right of homosexuals to marry?
******* The Congress of the United States, in response to the homosexual
tactics in Hawaii, which were then threatening the nation with same-sex
marriage, passed the Defense of Marriage Act, signed into law by President Clinton, allowing the states to protect their citizens from the assault on marriage by the homosexual lobby.
******* Ohio must defend her citizens by defending marriage, not enabling the
disorder of homosexuality.
******* Homosexuality is a Gender Identity Disorder. A disorder can be put into
order when an individual wants to order his or her life according to the
Manufacturers design.
******* The State of Ohio must not become an enabler of this disorder. The policy of the State of Ohio should be to help those willing to be helped, not promote a lifestyle choice that is now and is historically a self-destructive dead end.
******* In 1989, in the Washington DC ballroom of the Park Hyatt Hotel, as a
then-gay man, I listened to the gay political strategists of HRCF discuss where to begin the fight to legalize gay marriage. They choose Hawaii first, then Vermont.
******* You, the members of the Finance and Financial Institutions Committee,
have a responsibility to not enable self-destructive behavior.
******* Thank you,

******* item 3 JESUS NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY?
******* Date: Thu, 26 Feb 2004
******* From: "Mission America"
******* So that means its okay, right?
******* Consider these facts:
******* 1.He also never said anything about rape, incest or domestic violence.
Are those things okay, too?
******* 2. There are many teachings and deeds of Christ that are not included
in the Gospel accounts, as John writes in John 21:25.
******* 3. Christ did say that God created people in the beginning?as male
and female, and that marriage is the union of one man and one woman
joined together as one flesh.?(Matthew 19:4-6 and Mark 10:6-9) Nothing is
said about any other type of union.
******* 4. When He discussed sexual morality, Christ had a very high standard,
clearly affirming long-standing Jewish law. He told the woman caught in
adultery to Go and sin no more.?(John 8:11) He warned people not only
that the act of adultery was wrong, but even adulterous thoughts.
(Matthew 5:28) And he shamed the woman at the well (John 4:18) by pointing
out to her that he knew she was living with a man who was not her
husband.
******* 5. Christ used the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah as
an example of Gods wrath ( Matthew 10:15, Mark 6:11,Luke 10:12, and
Luke 17:29). Throughout the Old Testament, prophets clearly described
these cities as being notorious for the practice of homosexuality. (Genesis
18:20, Genesis 19:4-5, Isaiah 3:9, Jeremiah 23:14, Ezekiel 16:46-59).
Jesus certainly knew that this was how the comparison would be
understood.
******* 6. Christ was God incarnate (in the flesh) here on earth. He was the
long-expected Messiah, which was revealed in Matthew 16:13- 20, Matthew
17:5-9, Mark 8:27-30, Luke 4:16-30, Luke 9: 18-21,John 4:25-26, John
8:57-59 and elsewhere. As one with God, He was present from the beginning
(John 1: 1-13; Colossians 1:15-17; Ephesians 3:9 and elsewhere). So,
Jesus was part of the Godhead as the laws were handed down through Moses
to Israel and eventually to the whole world. This Old Testament law
clearly prohibited homosexuality (Genesis 19, Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13;
Deuteronomy 23:18 and elsewhere). The apostles understood this also, as
shown by Pauls writing in Romans 1:24-27, Peters in 2 Peter 2:4-22,
and Johns in Revelation 22:15.
******* So--the apostles, who were taught by Christ, clearly understood that
homosexuality was a sin as it has always been. When people say, Jesus
said nothing about homosexuality,?they reveal that they really havent
understood Scripture, or Who Christ was. Maybe some of these points can
help them toward a clearer understanding.

******* Date: Sat, 20 Mar 2004
******* From: "Mission America"
******* Here's an article with details on the NC book controversy,
including several notable opinions. One, that it is the "right" of children who
come from homosexual-parent families to read stories in school where their families are portrayed positively. This should give us a clue about how more pro-homosexual teaching will be justified.
******* Another is that all the children's book reviewers thought this book was
fine. What an indicator of the state of children's literature.

******* N.C. Parents Angered by Gay Prince Book
******* WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP)--The parents of a first-grader are fuming over
the book their daughter brought home from the school library: a children's story about a prince whose true love turns out to be another prince.
******* Michael Hartsell said he and his wife, Tonya, couldn't believe it when
Prince Bertie, the leading character in "King & King", waves off a bevy of eligible princes before falling for Prince Lee.
******* The book ends with the princes marrying and sharing a kiss.
******* "I was flabbergasted", Hartsell said. "My child is not old enough to
understand something like that, especially when it is not in our beliefs." The 32-page book by Linda De Haan and Stern Nijland was published in March 2002 by Tricycle Press, the children's division of Ten Speed Press of Berkeley, Calif. A follow-up, "King & King & Family", was recently published.
******* The publisher's Web site lists the books as intended for readers age 6
and up.
******* "This book was reviewed by the most reputable children's book reviewers in the country", publisher Nicole Geiger said. "Not one of them said it was inappropriate for children or should not have been published."
******* "There are many kinds of families in this country, and the children in
these families and their friends deserve to see their situations in a positive light."
******* Barbara Hawley, librarian and media coordinator at Freeman Elementary
School, said the book has been on the library's shelves since early last year.
******* "What might be inappropriate for one family, in another family is a
totally acceptable thing", said Elizabeth Miars, Freeman's principal.
******* Hawley said she couldn't comment on the book because she hadn't seen
it. She declined to say whether she knowingly selected a book on gay marriage.
******* The Hartsells said they are keeping the book until they get assurances
it won't be circulated. But Hawley said all county schools have a committee that reviews books after their appropriateness is questioned, and the Hartsells must make a written complaint and return the book for review.
******* The Hartsells said they intend to file such a complaint and are
considering transferring their daughter.

******* From: "Robert A Jason"
******* Date: Sat, 27 Mar 2004
----- Original Message -----

******* Dear Friends:
******* It takes guts to tell the truth about homosexuality & its agenda in our woefully timid & politically-correct society. So, Michael Coren deserves our applause for his courage in taking on the powerful, influential homosexual lobby and one of their pet causes that is so deleterious to society as a whole. You can bet Michael will receive lots of hate mail for his "homophobia" in this truthful column. He needs our prayers.
******* Yesterday, I responded to Ms. Marianne Meed-Ward after she had been tormenting us sincere Bible-believing Christians for a long time. I have never seen Ms. Meed-Ward take on the powerful homosexual lobby - she loves to pick on the harmless, meek & mild "turn the other cheek" Christians. My, how brave of you, Ms. Meed-Ward! Let's see how you can match the courage of your fellow columnist at the Toronto Sun - Michael Coren.
******* <><>
------------------
Sat, March 27, 2004
******* Last week, the largest school board in Quebec decided to ban blood donor clinics from all of its schools and offices. The reason? The blood bank agency asks potential donors a list of questions.
******* One of the many questions posed to men is whether they are gay and have been sexually active. The openly gay vice-chairman of the board protested the "homophobia" of the question.
******* As a result, the dangerously limited blood supply of this country will be further hit. In other words, the essential surgical and health needs of the people of Canada are considered less important than the chance of a homosexual man being offended by a logical and essential question.
******* Nor is the scenario confined to Quebec or to Canadian schools. Universities face the same challenge, and at Western Oregon University there is currently a campaign to ban Red Cross blood drives from campus for the same reason.
******* None of this is surprising to me.
******* I wrote about a similar incident some years ago for another newspaper. In that case, the Red Cross had indeed been banned from a university campus in Canada for asking such a question.
******* After the article appeared the editor of the well-known daily for which I wrote telephoned me and told me I was never to write about gay people ever again.
******* I argued this was less about homosexuality than about public policy.
******* It doesn't matter, replied the editor, never mention homosexuality "ever again."
******* So much for the Davids and Goliaths of Canadian media.
******* It only goes to confirm what many of us have been saying for some time. The tolerance gay people request, and deserve, was achieved long ago. And I applaud that. The debate now is about unquestioning affirmation. This applies to marriage, adoption and so many other areas of the social fabric of our lives.
******* Let us also please reject the ridiculous charge of homophobia from all this. Of course there are haters out there, but for the most part the accusation of homophobia is merely a clumsy but sometimes successful attempt to stifle contrary opinion. In this case, it is perverse. Lesbians, for example, are more welcome than most as blood donors. They have a lower infection rate than heterosexual women.
******* Yet the argument goes deeper. There are many questions asked by blood agencies. Which countries have you visited? Have you suffered from various diseases? Have you been an intravenous drug user? Have you been sexually active as a heterosexual in a way that could increase the risk of AIDS infection?
******* I, for one, cannot give blood because I lived in Britain until 1987, when mad cow disease was to be found in some of the meat supply. The chances of infection are tiny, but the risks are too great to take chances.
******* Quite right. Nobody's child should receive infected blood simply because someone was upset by what he considered to be a politically incorrect question.
******* Goodness me, no gay man should face the risk of receiving tainted blood because another gay man's self-esteem was dented by an essential and responsible inquiry.
******* The essence of all this is that the privileges of the few appear to have become more important than the rights of the many. The comfort level of someone with a particular sexual orientation matters more than life itself.
******* Of course, all blood is checked and there is hardly any chance of HIV- or AIDS-infected blood reaching the blood banks. But any expert will tell you about the problems of the delayed appearance of infection.
******* Just one mistake could be fatal. We need as many safeguards as possible.
******* Being gay is not the point. The blood agencies could not care less about a person's sexual orientation. They do care, however, if someone has had anal sex. It is a simple fact that such intercourse makes both partners more open to infection than normal sexual contact.
******* Only a fool, or perhaps a homophobe, would deny the devastation caused to gay men by AIDS. Condoms are not universally safe, and are not universally used.
******* Truth, however, is always safe, and should always be used. It could save your life. Even if it does involve answering a question or two.

******* item 7 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHOIR CANCELS PERFORMANCE AT HOMOSEXUAL EVENT ******* Date: Wed, 31 Mar 2004 14:03:20 -0600
******* From: "Mission America" and The Advocate
3/30/2004 http://www.advocate.com/new_news.asp?ID=11853&sd=03
******* An elementary school choir that emphasizes diversity dropped out of a
service celebrating the gay community because too few parents gave permission for their children to participate. The H.W. Smith Elementary School's Rainbow Kids international chorus was to perform Sunday at May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church in Syracuse, N.Y., during the annual "Equality Begins At Home" event, organized by local churches and gay and lesbian groups. The event celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community in song and sacred text, said the Reverend Shawn Benedict, an event organizer and pastor of Ray of Hope Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, a Christian church founded to support gays and lesbians. "The understanding of this thing is exactly in the title of the event," Benedict said Monday. "The difficulty came at home. I'm not
vilifying parents, but what I'm saying is this shows that our work isn't done as a society."
******* The choir is made up of more than 100 fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-grade
pupils. Chorus director Francine Berg said she expected 20 to 25 students to participate, but only a handful of students returned permission slips, so Berg canceled the group's performance. Berg said several students told her their parents did not approve of the event. Scheduling and transportation problems were also factors, she said. Pupils at H.W. Smith come from at least 40 countries and practice a variety of religious traditions, she said. The service included performances by Ithaca-based folk musician Jody Kessler; Bruce Coville,
a children's author who lives in Syracuse; and Out Loud Chorus, a gay and lesbian choir from Ithaca. Neil Driscoll, city school district spokesman, said no calls were received from people complaining about the event.

******* By Hans Zeiger 2004 WorldNetDaily.com
******* BOONE, NORTH CAROLINA Mark Austin is a 17-year-old junior at Watauga
High School, active in his community, and working to get his Eagle Scout award from a local Scout troop where he has served as troop chaplain and senior patrol leader. Now Mark is suspended for standing up for his Christian faith.
******* When Mark heard that the homosexual Day of Silence was coming to
Watauga High School on Wednesday, April 21, he decided to counter the propaganda of the homosexual agenda with the truth of God's Word.
******* Mark designed a T-shirt with the words, "Homosexuality is sin
(Leviticus 18:22)," "Hell is REAL (Revelation 21:8)," and "Jesus is the Answer!
(Romans 10:9-10)" on the front. The back read, "Shout for Joy!" (Psalm 132:9). He wore the shirt to school Wednesday as a protest of the Homosexual Day of Silence in which homosexual and pro-homosexual students were allowed by the Watauga administration to take a vow of silence in recognition of the "silence" imposed on sexual minorities.
******* Mark estimates that about 30 Watauga students participated in the Day
of Silence, and Watauga High School is listed on the Day of Silence website as an official participant. The Watauga High School administration allowed students to participate in the Day of Silence and to essentially interrupt the school day by their refusal to participate vocally or interact in class activities.
******* Unlike Day of Silence participants, Mark wore a T-shirt containing a
simple visual message based on his beliefs. It was not an interruption of
the school day like the Day of Silence was.
******* But upon spotting Mark's T-shirt while strolling through the hall
between classes, Assistant Principal Rebecca Ireland flagged Mark and
directed an administrator to escort Mark to the principal's office.
******* Watauga High School's clothing policy states that, "Clothing or emblems
which are offensive to any race, gender or religion shall not be worn." Mark's T-shirt was not directed toward a race, a gender, or a religion. It was a response to the school's Day of Silence celebration that had to do with moral choices. Nevertheless, Principal Gary Childers told Mark that his T-shirt was offensive on the point of gender. Childers gave Mark the option of removing his shirt or facing suspension.
******* There is a price to be paid in the battle to reclaim America, and Mark
Austin is paying that price. "I am not ashamed of what I did today," he
told me, just hours after his principal sent him home on suspension.
******* If the Day of Silence demonstration was protected speech, so too, Mark's T-shirt should have been. As for violating the school clothing policy, Mark says it's a no-brainer, "Last I checked, homosexual was not a third gender. I for one am a male, and I'm certainly not trying to bash my own gender either."
******* Interestingly, Mark points out that many students at Watauga High
School violate the school clothing policy every day and do not face consequences. From my own experience as a public school graduate, midriff on
girls, hats on boys, gang clothing and other dress code violations were
commonplace habits that routinely went ignored by high-school administrators.
******* Of course, the issue is larger than Mark Austin's suspension slip now
on file in his school record. "This is not just an attack on me," he told me, "it's an attack on America's family, from a religiously fueled school system of secular humanism, which by the way offends Bible-believing Christians with its evolutionary propaganda and anti-Christian bigotry. The homosexuals can have their Day of Silence, but Christians are really the ones that are denied the right to even speak. We're silenced in the face of public affairs, being labeled as bigoted, homophobic, intolerant, mean and fundamentalists, just to name a few."
******* Mark is so correct. Homosexuals are not being silenced. The fact is
that the one group of Americans that is the most vocal of all groups these
days is the radical homosexual movement. It has secured the amendment
of most of America's major non-discrimination codes to include "sexual
orientation." It has invaded our Boy Scout troops and seeks to destroy
the Scout Oath and Law. It is working hard right now to undermine the
sacred institution of marriage by changing our nation's laws to allow
homosexuals to wed.
******* Homosexuals are not silenced, but Christians are. And the problem is,
we've chosen to be silenced. "I'm deeply saddened that the Christians as
a majority, didn't say one word about this issue today, nor did any
action to stand against it." The Day of Silence came and went at 3,000
schools in America, and we were silent. But it's not too late to stand
with Mark Austin.
******* ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Editor's note: The current edition of WND's acclaimed monthly
Whistleblower magazine, titled "SEXUAL ANARCHY," is devoted entirely to the
explosive issue of homosexual marriage, and shows -- contrary to popular
opinion -- that same-sex marriage may very soon become the law of the
land in America. The issue also shows, perhaps for the first time, how
same-sex marriage can be stopped dead in its tracks, regardless of the
actions of activist judges.

******* If health classes in the county's public schools are going to discuss
homosexuality, they also should discuss the risks of homosexuality and people who have left the "homosexual lifestyle," say several members of a committee that advises the county school board.
******* Discussions of sexual orientation -- and how to address it in school --
have stirred controversy on the Citizens Advisory Committee for Family Life and Human Development. A minority on the committee, which approves materials for county schools' health classes, said they believe that most of the group, including its chairman, is promoting a "pro-gay" agenda.
******* That has led to the approval of inaccurate information on sexual
orientation from sources that are not credible, charged Henrietta Brown,
who has served on the committee since July 2002.
******* Other committee members, including Chairman David S. Fishback, refuted
Brown's comments, saying that the group discusses all viewpoints and that the materials recommended for eighth- and 10th-grade health classes are from credible sources.
******* On March 25, Brown sent a letter to the school board, claiming, "The
committee is controlled by pro-gay activists (including the chairman) who continually vote for factually incorrect information that puts students' health at risk."
******* Not true, said Fishback in an e-mail to The Gazette. "Every statement in the proposed curriculum has emerged from study of mainstream American medical and mental health organizations and from other well-respected groups who advocate for the health of our children," he wrote.
******* The material, submitted by Brown and others, including information
about "reparative therapy" -- a controversial method that considers
homosexuality a disease that can be cured -- presents views that are not
scientifically valid, Fishback wrote.
******* The debate is similar to those among medical professionals, said Lara
J. Akinbami, a pediatrician with the National Center for Health Statistics
and a committee member.
******* "Look at the Atkins diet," she said. "There's a ripple of controversy,
and nobody really knows the long-term effects one way or another."
******* Earlier this year, Brown sent the school board a letter detailing
course materials that the committee recommended and materials that it had not
recommended or even considered.
******* The committee is preparing an annual report that will include the
revisions to the eighth- and 10th-grade health curriculum, including a video demonstration of condom use and discussions of sexual orientation.
******* On March 22, the school board approved the condom demonstration video
for a pilot program in three county high schools this spring. The board will vote on the rest of the curriculum sometime during the 2004-2005 school year, said Russell Henke, county schools' health coordinator, who also serves as a liaison to the advisory committee.
******* Much of the debate revolves around whether homosexuality is something
that is inborn or whether people become homosexual over the course of their lives.
******* "It's the old nature or nurture [debate]," said Kimberly J. Campbell, a
clinical psychologist who has served on the family life committee for four years. "I think that debate could go on for centuries."
******* Brown also argues that homosexuals face greater health risks for
HIV-AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases because of their lifestyle. She asked the committee to include data from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about sexually transmitted diseases among homosexuals, but left out similar data on heterosexuals, said Akinbami, who works for a branch of the CDC.
******* The school system considers CDC material dealing HIV and AIDS and some
other sexually transmitted diseases a suitable resource for health teachers. Brown said she presented the material about homosexual sex to make it easier for teachers to find.
******* Homosexuals should not be singled out, Akinbami said. "We really shouldn't be talking about gay sex vs. heterosexual sex," she said.
******* There are sexual practices that both gay and straight people use that
are equally risky for both groups, Akinbami said. There is a clear split on the committee when it comes to views on sexuality, Fishback said.
******* "There are some committee members whose viewpoints are more socially
conservative is I guess how you'd describe it," said Fishback, who has two adult sons who are gay.
******* Others, because of their personal or professional experience "have a
perspective which some would describe as more up-to-date, more in tune with what we've discovered about human beings over the last several decades," he said in an interview.
******* Those who question much of the material the committee has recommended
make up a clear minority on the 24-member committee. Michelle Turner, a former president of the county council of PTAs who joined the committee in July and is part of that minority, said that when dealing with the health of children, both sides should be heard.
******* "If there is information out there that shows a gay lifestyle is harmful to them in various ways, then I think they should have access to those
materials," said Turner, who signed Brown's March 25 letter. "And if they are going to go this far in discussing the gay lifestyle, they have to show all sides, all aspects of it." Brown agreed.
******* "In an educational atmosphere, you should be able to see both sides of
an issue," she said. "Because without both sides of an issue what you're doing is indoctrinating [students]."
******* Jackie Rice, who also signed Brown's letter after trying unsuccessfully
to get the committee to recommend including information on reparative therapy, said omitting mention of that therapy is not giving students a complete picture of sexual orientation.
******* "I feel that if you're going to be telling someone anything, you have
to give them the whole story, not half," she said. Fishback said parents may choose not to allow their children to participate in the health units about sexuality. Those who have supported the panel's recommendations say the
accusations of bias are unfounded.
******* "We spend a considerable amount of time listening to their objections,"
Campbell said. "We spend a considerable amount of time reading articles that they bring in to counter perspectives." That sometimes means spending as much as 30 minutes of the committee's monthly meeting debating a single word, she said. "What is it they do in Congress?" Campbell said. "Filibustering?"

******* item 10 HOMOSEXUAL BLITZKRIEG IN CANADA
******* by Royal Hamel
******* Date: Wed, 15 Jan 2003
******* From: "Ted Hewlett"
******* ONLY CLERGY CAN HALT THE HOMOSEXUAL BLITZKRIEG IN CANADA
******* On September 1, 1939 the Nazi war machine brutally hurled itself on Poland. With lighting speed the country was penetrated, encircled and totally
overcome. On Sept. 27 with all resistance broken, Warsaw was forced to
surrender. Blitzkrieg was a new type of warfare and few would be able to
withstand it.
******* As I view the progress of the militant homosexual agenda in Canadian society the word that comes to mind is blitzkrieg. In an amazing show of strength over the rest of society in the last year alone, the movement has made
incalculably great gains. In 2002 three signal events stand out. On May 29,
02 Svend Robinson's hate speech bill C-415 (now Bill C-250) passed second
reading in our parliament. If passed into law this bill will effectively
shut down all public criticism of the homosexual lifestyle. People with a
moral conscience who continue to speak will be in danger of fines, jail
time, and criminal records. Also in this past year, the Ontario Supreme
Court in a landmark decision is forcing the federal government in the
direction of legitimizing and/or regularizing homosexual unions so that they
might be equal in law to heterosexual marriage. Finally, in December of 2002
a Supreme Court decision forced the Surrey School Board in British Columbia
to change its policy on not allowing homosexual ideology to be promoted in
schools at kindergarten level.
******* It has been an amazing year of losses for people who hold to moral
convictions on homosexual behavior. If this trend continues much longer I
predict that we will soon have homosexual marriage; children in public and
private schools, from kindergarten to Grade 12 will be indoctrinated with
the teaching that homosexuality is normal and good; faithful pastors will be
put in jail for merely preaching the Bible; and marriage as an institution
will be fundamentally altered, and greatly weakened. The question must be
asked, "Can Canadians who morally disapprove of homosexual behavior stop the
advance of the homosexual agenda in this country?" Are we now at the point
where it is inevitable that homosexuality will be normalized at all levels
of our society as being equal to heterosexual relations?
******* I believe there are only two possibilities of stopping the militant
homosexual agenda. One option, totally out of our hands, is that God may
give to our nation a far-reaching and profound spiritual awakening similar
to the great awakening of the 18th century in Britain and the New England
colonies. The Methodist revival of that era led to numerous positive social
initiatives and changes that virtually transformed Britain. But apart from
an amazing work of God, in my view, the only other possibility of stopping
this blitzkrieg is specific action by the churches of our nation, and
specifically our pastors, priests and denominational executives.
******* Homosexuality is not per se a political issue. It is fundamentally a moral issue. But up to this point the moral gatekeepers of our society have been
largely asleep. Just recently I received a poignant email which in part
stated, "I just don't understand why evil seems to be winning." I think I
do. The militant homosexual agenda has thus far had amazing success simply
because there has been almost no organized opposition. But in any given war
the aggressor who encounters no opposition will inevitably win! The clergy
have been silent perhaps because of a prudishness to speak of sexual
matters, perhaps because many see this as political rather than spiritual,
or perhaps because of timidness in confronting a controversial theme. How
ironical that homosexual ideologues on the other side have no qualms
whatsoever about introducing sexual themes to our kindergarten children for
the purpose of subverting traditional morality.
******* Therefore I call upon gatekeepers to man the gates. I call Christian leaders everywhere to teach their congregations the biblical truth on homosexuality.I call upon denominational executives to guide the churches under their care. Clergy need to remember that the only way to defeat moral evil is by
teaching moral truth. Activism can only go so far, therefore prophetic,
powerful preaching of truth is the need of the hour. Let prophetic
preachers read the times by reading the newspaper, let them see the great
danger. then, let them join this moral battle by faithfully and fervently
speaking God's word.
******* The hour is already late. Much ground has been lost. The amoral blitzkrieg has been amazingly and alarmingly effective. I plead with Christian leaders everywhere to preach the word of God. Pray then, yes, let us by all means pray, but let us do more than pray. We must see that God has not called us
to hide truth, but to proclaim it far and wide. So then let us carefully,
graciously, and lovingly speak the truth, and always with Christ's offer of
transformation, hope and reconciliation.
******* But above all, let us speak!
******* Rev. Royal M. Hamel, Guelph, Ontario
******* "If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, then I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ."

******* Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A Catholic university in Pennsylvania has blocked students from forming a chapter of the pro-abortion American Civil Liberties Union on campus. Villanovas Director of Student Development, Tom Mogan, told the student newspaper, the Villanovan, "It's problematic to have a group affiliated with a national organization that takes positions against Catholic teachings." "The ACLU does a lot of things that are consistent with the mission, but there are some of their issues that are in conflict with the Catholic teaching," Mogan added referring to abortion. Instead, Villanova will allow the students to form their own unaffiliated group called the Villanova Civil Liberties Association.

******* item 12 SUPPORT OF GAYS PUSHED IN SCHOOLS
******* Date: Fri, 3 Dec 2004
******* From: "Mission America"
******* By George Archibald, The Washington Times, Wed., Dec. 1, 2004, Page A3
http://www.washtimes.com/national/20041130-102740-4303r.htm
******* Civil liberties and homosexual rights advocates have renewed their push for community programs to bolster support in schools for homosexual youths, just weeks after voters repudiated same-sex unions in 11 state referendums.
But in northeastern Kentucky, parents and students have defied the Ashland-Boyd County school district's "mandatory anti-harassment workshops," part of an
agreement with the American Civil Liberties Union to allow the Gay-Straight Alliances student group to meet in school buildings. Hundreds of students opted out of the tolerance training video, and another 324 students did not show
up for school the day it was shown. The ACLU has threatened to file for a court order to enforce attendance.
******* Joseph Platt, a Cincinnati lawyer representing parents, said "mandatory training on tolerance for homosexuals violates the right of conscience of
parents and students who believe such behavior immoral." In Charlotte-Mecklenburg County, N.C., a lengthy cover feature in Charlotte Parent, a widely circulated shopper magazine, has brought indignant protests from churches and private schools associated with the Greater Charlotte Association of Christian Schools. Titled "Parenting a Gay Child," the feature offered a sympathetic account of youngsters with "same-sex attraction" and advocated community "support services and education" on behalf of homosexual children. The
article supported the view of homosexual interest groups that same-sex unions are comparable to heterosexual marriage.
******* Van Wade, president of Christian schools association and headmaster of Carmel Christian School in Charlotte, said, "The article was very one-sided and
accommodating" toward homosexuality. "No one ever said, 'Let's talk about the moral issues that are involved.' " Mr. Wade said the 55,000-circulation magazine should have given alternatives to support parents "who want to help children live godly lives and pursue sexual abstinence." The feature listed only names, addresses, telephone numbers and Web sites of a half-dozen
pro-homosexual support groups.
******* Thomas K. Crowe, executive pastor of Charlotte's First Baptist Church, told the magazine in a letter he provided to The Washington Times that he believed sexual preference is "an unhealthy choice/preference.. that can be corrected. There are organizations and helpers available to teens and adults to live healthy lives in tune with God's plan for men and women."
******* Charlotte Parent is distributed free of charge at 800 locations. Christian leaders have said they would withdraw their advertising and ask that the magazine not be delivered again. Church criticism was not unanimous. David Hains, spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Charlotte, told the Charlotte World that the diocese "doesn't find the article objectionable."
******* Karen E. Conroy, the magazine's editor and author of the feature, declined to comment but said she would address criticisms in the December issue.
******* William J. Maier, vice president and psychologist in residence for Focus on the Family in Boulder, Colo., said, "There is no proof that homosexuals are 'born gay' or that homosexuality is a 'fixed,' unchangeable
condition," according to the American Psychiatric Association. "No child is 'born gay'; the notion is scientifically absurd."
******* Ron Schlittler, executive director of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, said such positions perpetuate "baseless fears and misguided
claims about [homosexuals], such as the tired notion that they must 'recruit.' " Such fears are "exploited by those who wish to portray our family members and friends as some sort of danger."
******* Charlotte-Mecklenburg public schools do not permit counselors to discuss sexuality with their students. Also, groups that encourage and support youths who embrace homosexuality are prohibited from advertising their activities on school property. As a result, three years ago one such group, Time Out Youth, listed by Charlotte Parent, started a "We Are Your Gay Youth" billboard campaign along busy Charlotte streets with contact details for further
information.

******* Board makes apology to Watauga students, principal for suspensions
******* BOONE - School board members apologized yesterday to three Watauga High
School students and the principal who suspended them after the students
wore T-shirts with anti-homosexual messages.
******* The students wore the shirts April 21 as a protest against a
student-led
Day of Silence meant to call attention to problems faced by lesbian,
bisexual and transgender youth in schools.
******* Principal Gary Childers acted in good faith to follow board policy in
suspending the students, but the system's policy was unconstitutionally
broad, said Andy Reese, the chairman of the Watauga County Board of
Education.
******* The one-day suspensions will be expunged from the students' records, he
said.
******* "The board apologizes to Mr. Childers and these students for this
unfortunate incident," Reese said.
******* The Day of Silence is coordinated through the Gay, Lesbian and Straight
Education Network, which has nearly 70 chapters across the United
States
and national headquarters in New York.
******* GLSEN estimated that a record 300,000 students at schools, colleges and
universities in all 50 states participated in this year's Day of
Silence. Between 10 and 25 students participated at Watauga High
School.
The Day of Silence was not sanctioned by the school.
******* Mark Austin, then a junior at Watauga, wore a T-shirt that included the
handwritten messages, "Homosexuality is sin (Leviticus 18:22)," "Hell
is
REAL (Revelation 21:8)," and "Jesus is the Answer! (Romans 10:9-10)."
******* Seven other students who wore T-shirts with varying messages, including
"God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve," were also told by
administrators that the shirts violated the school dress code that
prohibits messages that are offensive to religion or gender.
******* Five of the students changed their clothes as administrators asked.
When
Austin, and students Ashley Kaylor and Ashley Greene would not, they
were suspended.
******* The students have since been represented by the American Family
Association Center for Law and Policy, a law firm based in Tupelo,
Miss.
******* Michael DePrimo, the center's senior litigation counsel, said that the
suspensions were a classic case of school officials overreacting to
peaceful student speech on a controversial issue.
******* "The Supreme Court made clear long ago that students do not shed their
constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate," he said in a statement.
******* Yesterday afternoon, DePrimo said that a settlement agreement was
awaiting signatures. The settlement would prevent a lawsuit from being
filed on behalf of the students by the American Family Association.
******* The board also voted unanimously to change the dress code to include
language that certain banned items must be "plainly offensive" and
"disruptive."
******* Childers was one of several principals who said that they would like to
talk more about the guidelines.
******* "Maybe what's needed is not so much revision to policy, but training
for
administrators," he told the board.
******* About 25 people attended the meeting, many of them there on other
business. During public comment, one person spoke to the board.
******* No apology was necessary, said Robert Muffoletto, the father of a
Watauga High student and an associate professor of education at
Appalachian State University.
******* "By apologizing, we're saying we're wrong," he said. "I think we need
to
educate our students to be tolerant and value diversity."

high-octane homosexual agenda in the school since the homosexual

*******
GLEN ELLYN, Il., April 13 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Illinois Family
Institute took advantage of a rare 'Day of Silence" for pro-homosexual
school activists today by inviting students across Chicagoland to hear
the testimony of former homosexual Stephen Bennett, who will be speaking
this week on the reality of change for people struggling with same-sex
desires.
******* Illinois Family Executive Director Peter LaBarbera and IFI Youth
Coordinator Erin Joyce went to Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn,
passing out fliers inviting students to "Come Hear the Other Side to the
'Day of Silence'Learn the Truth: Nobody has to be 'Gay.'"
******* The fliers contained tracts with former homosexual Stephen Bennett's
testimony (www.sbministries.org). On Thursday evening at 6:30, IFI will
sponsor a Bennett presentation at Wheaton Evangelical Free Church at 520
E. Roosevelt Rd in Wheaton, and on Friday night at 6:00, he will speak
at Christian Liberty Academy at 502 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights,
Il. (See www.illinoisfamily.org for more details.)
******* Many students accepted the fliers while others did not. Some were
decidedly intolerant, yelling vulgarities at those passing out information.
******* Glenbard West listed the "Day of Silence" on its school calendar, and
in past years has seen strong support for the pro-homosexual event in
which participating students take a vow of silence to protest the alleged
"silencing" of homosexuals worldwide.
******* Another group of concerned moms stood outside Glenbard West greeting
students with signs such as "Parents Have a Right to Know" and "Your Tax
Dollars at Work: No Talking Today."
******* IFI also be visiting the pro-homosexual "Night of Noise" rally tonight
in Chicago (5:30 at the State of Illinois Building) to invite pro-"gay"
students to hear another viewpoint by attending one of Bennett's talks.
"Night of Noise" is sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) of Chicago, a Day of Silence sponsor that promotes the acceptance of homosexuality, bisexuality and transsexuality in
Chicago-area schools.
******* IFI's LaBarbera said students need much more "silence" from "gay"
activist students and teachersand less "silence" regarding the severe health risks associated with homosexual behaviors.
******* "The deafening silence among pro-gay elitesin the education system and among the mediais their failure to communicate the enormous health
risks of homosexual sexual practices, especially among males," LaBarbera
said. "It's politically correct to say that all sexual behaviors carry
risks, but clearly some are more risky than others.
******* One homosexual writer, Jack Hart, describes anal sex and another
perversion common among male homosexuals as "highly efficient ways of
transmitting disease." (see full quote below).
******* "Amazingly, liberal educators pat each other on the back for being
'gay'-affirming even as homosexuals continue to die young due to their
unnatural and dangerous lifestyle," LaBarbera said.
******* He said students deserve better than another pro-homosexual propaganda
exercise: "Instead, they need to be told the truth: that homosexual acts are life-threatening; that homosexuality and gender confusion are not inborn but are changeable behaviors; and that this lifestyle is immoral and against God's created order."
******* "The good news is that God loves people caught up in homosexuality
enough to help them overcome it, hence the existence of thousands of
ex-'gays' and ex-lesbians," LaBarbera said.
******* LaBarbera said he hopes that students from Chicagoland schools who
favor diversity or are questioning their sexual identity will come and hear
the presentations by Bennett, who once considered himself "gay" but not
is married to wife Irene and the father of two children. Through his
worldwide Christian ministry, Bennett reaches out to others who are
struggling with homosexuality and sexual brokenness.
******* Health Information Resources
******* As a resource on the dangers of homosexuality, LaBarbera suggested Dr.
John Diggs' "The Health Risks of Gay Sex," available online through the
Corporate Resource Council at:
http://www.corporateresourcecouncil.org/white_papers/Health_Risks.pdf.
******* Also, the following is the full quotation by "gay" writer Jack Hart,
available on the Culture & Family Institute's website at
http://www.cwfa.org/articles/3962/CFI/cfreport/:
******* The following excerpt comes not from Rev. Jerry Falwell or the
"religious right," but a homosexual writer, Jack Hart:
******* "Many sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) occur more often among gay
men than in the general population. Several factors contribute to this
difference: Gay men have the opportunity to engage in sex with more
people than do most heterosexual men, and some practices common in the gay
community are highly efficient ways of transmitting disease."-- Jack Hart, author, Gay Sex: A Manual for Men Who Love Men (Allyson Publications: Boston, 1991), p. 156, in section on
******* "Sexually Transmitted Disease." The writer goes on to write that "the
increasing acceptance of safer sex" has lessened the spread of STD's, and then
discusses the "most common" sex-transmitted diseases other than HIV
confronting homosexual men, including: chlamydia, crab lice, giardiasis,
gonorrhea, hepatitis-A and -B, herpes simplex, nongonococcal urethritis,
scabies, syphilis, and venereal warts.

******* item 16 CONSERVATIVES COUNTER DAY OF SILENCE WITH DAY OF TRUTH
******* Date: Fri, 15 Apr 2005
******* From: "Mission America" and www.cnn.com
******* 'Day of Truth' supporters believe homosexuality is wrong
******* NEW YORK (AP) -- Irked by the success of the nationwide Day of Silence, which seeks to combat anti-gay bias in schools, conservative activists are launching a counter-event this week called the Day of Truth aimed at mobilizing students who believe homosexuality is sinful.
******* Participating students are being offered T-shirts with the slogan "The
Truth Cannot be Silenced" and cards to pass out to classmates Thursday
-- the day following the Day of Silence -- declaring their
unwillingness to condone "detrimental personal and social behavior."
******* The driving force behind the Day of Truth is the Alliance Defense Fund, a Christian legal group that has opposed same-sex marriage and
challenged restrictions on religious expression in public schools. The event is endorsed by several influential conservative organizations, including
the Christian ministry Focus on the Family and the Southern Baptist
Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission.
******* Mike Johnson, an Alliance Defense Fund attorney from Shreveport,
Louisiana, said organizers were unsure how many students would participate in
the Day of Truth, but expressed hope it would grow in coming years as
more people learned about it.
******* Johnson said the event is meant to be "peaceful and respectful," but
made clear it is motivated by belief that homosexuality is wrong. "You
can call it sinful or destructive -- ultimately it's both," he said.
******* The event is designed as a riposte to the Day of Silence, which began
on a small scale in 1996 and is now observed by tens of thousands of
students annually at hundreds of schools and colleges across the country.
******* Most Day of Silence participants go through the school day without
speaking -- a tactic for drawing attention to the isolation and harassment
experienced by many gay students.
******* Since 2001, Day of Silence observances have been coordinated by the
Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), a New York-based
organization that also has worked to support gay-straight alliances at high
schools across the country.
******* Kevin Jennings, GLSEN's executive director, said he doubted the Day of
Truth would gain a following and stature of any significance.
******* "The Day of Silence was an event conceived of by students themselves in response to a very real problem of bullying and harassment they saw on
their campuses," Jennings said. "The Day of Truth is a publicity stunt
cooked up by a conservative organization with a political agenda; it's
an effort by adults to manipulate some kids."
******* Underlying the dueling events is a fundamental disagreement over the
rationale for the Day of Silence. GLSEN and its allies say the silent
protest is specifically targeting harassment of gay students, while the
Alliance Defense Fund and other conservatives say GLSEN's agenda is to
broaden national acceptance of homosexuality.
******* "No one is for bullying and harassment," Johnson said. "But that's
cloaking their real message -- that homosexuality is good for society."
******* Echoing the stance taken by defense fund lawyers in several court
cases, Johnson said teachers and students critical of homosexuality have
been pressured to stifle their views while at school. They cite the case
of a San Diego-area high school student, Chase Harper, who was
disciplined last year for refusing to change out of a T-shirt that read,
"Homosexuality is Shameful."
******* "We wouldn't have come up with the Day of Truth if Christian kids
hadn't been silenced in the first place," Johnson said. "The public school
is part of the free market of ideas -- if the other side is going to
advance their point of view, it's only fair for the Christian perspective
to present their view, too."
******* The Alliance Defense Fund is anticipating that some students who try to participate in the Day of Truth may be admonished by school staff. Its
resource kit includes a hot-line number, with attorneys on call to
provide legal advice about free-speech rights on school grounds.
******* Jennings said GLSEN had no ambitions to keep schools free of all
criticism of homosexuality.
******* "There always should be a place in our schools for respectful
differences of opinion -- we don't expect everyone to agree, or even to like
each other," he said.
******* But he questioned whether the Alliance Defense Fund and its allies were committed to constructive dialogue.
******* "I don't think they believe in pluralism," he said. "They feel they
have the truth and everybody else should buy into it."
******* According to GLSEN, 84 percent of gay and lesbian high school students
experiences verbal harassment on a regular basis at school, and 40 percent experience physical harassment.

******* item 17 KINDERGARTEN FATHER ARRESTED IN MASSACHUSETTS OVER OBJECTIONS TO HOMOSEXUAL CURRICULUM
******* Date: Thu, 28 Apr 2005
******* From: "Mission America"
******* Lexington, Mass., father of 6-year-old arrested and taken to jail over
objections to homosexual curriculum in sons kindergarten class.
******* Demanded that school inform him and allow child to opt-out;
superintendent refused.
******* LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS, APRIL 27. Lexington parent, David Parker,
was arrested today by the Lexington Police for trespassing at his sons elementary school during a scheduled meeting with the principal and the citys Director of Education over his objections to homosexual curriculum materials and discussions in his sons kindergarten class.
******* At the meeting, Parker demanded that the school inform him when
homosexual subjects are to be discussed with his son, and allow his son not to
be included in such activities. He said he would not leave until his request was granted. The Principal and the citys Director of Education both refused his request. They then telephoned the Superintendent of Schools who also refused. Police were called, who told Parker that unless he left the school he would be arrested.
******* Statement by David Parker(April 27, 2005): I, David Parker, am the father of a kindergarten student at Estabrook Elementary School in Lexington, Massachusetts. Since the beginning of this school year, my wife and I have learned that school materials and discussions about gay-headed households/same-sex union issues have been exposed to the children. There are definitive plans to increase the teacher/staff/adult mediated discussions of these subjects.
******* We have officially stated on many occasionsto the Lexington school
administrationa request that we be notified when these discussions are
planned, and want our 6-year-old opted out of such situations when arising spontaneously.
******* Our parental requests for our own child were flat-out denied with no
effort at accommodation. In our meeting on April 27, I, insisted that such accommodation be made and refused to leave the meeting room. I was informed that I would be arrested.
******* Parker will be arraigned on Thursday, April 28, in Concord District
Court at 9 am. This is an unbelievable outrage, said Brian Camenker, a
friend and Newton, Mass. parent. Its where last years same-sex marriage ruling has brought us.

******* item 18 SUPREME COURT DECISION GIVES EXTRA RIGHTS TO "GAYS" - rejects parental authority over children's education
******* Date: Fri, 27 Dec 2002
******* from Ron Gray > >
******* The Christian Heritag Party of Canada (CHP) and Canada Family Action Coalition (CFAC) urge parents to pull children from government schools
******* The Supreme Court of Canada, in a decision that flies in the face of constitutional guarantees, has ruled against parents' right to let their religious opinions guide the education of their children.
******* "The need for the political will to leash the high court's activism has never been greater," says Ron Gray, leader of the Christian Heritage Party of Canada. "Unfortunately, this bizarre and discriminatory decision comes at precisely the time when the leader of the Official Opposition has chosen to announce that he and his party are abandoning 'social conservatives', whom he described in the Calgary Herald as 'scary'.
******* "The Official Opposition seems especially intent on cutting Christians out of the loop," Gray added. "I noted today that Fraser Valley MP Chuck Strahl, in a letter to his home-town newspaper, also distances himself from us by using a line borrowed from Deborah Grey: 'I am a Christian MP,' they both say, 'not Christians' MP'.
******* "By saying that, they deny the historical fact that the religious liberty we enjoy in Canada is a Christian principle, the fruit of Canada's Christian heritage."
******* Gray said the Supreme Court decision underscores his party's contention that Parliament must create a standing joint committee and give it the authority to review and reverse court decisions that violate the constitution.
******* "The BC Legislature erred, years ago, when they passed a Schools Act that mandated 'secular' education, " Gray said. "The MLAs mistakenly thought 'secular' means 'neutral'; but when it comes to a real-world application of the law, we can now see very clearly that Secularism is a religion it's a world-view that wants to expunge every other religion from public life.
******* "The proper course for the high court would have been to rule that the BC Schools Act was invalid because, by requiring Secularism, it denies the religious liberties guaranteed to all Canadians in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
******* "Instead, the Supreme Court has showed its bias against religion by ruling that religious Canadians have fewer and lesser rights than 'gays' or other politically-correct groups."
******* The Supreme Court decision in the Surrey School Board case said the Board cannot ban pro-homosexual propaganda (books such as 'Heather Has Two Mommies', 'Daddy's Roommate', or 'Gloria Goes to Gay Pride'). The court did allow school boards the option of limiting the gay propaganda to the library, or allowing it in the classroom.
******* Janet Epp Buckingham, legal counsel for the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, says the ruling limits the rights of religious parents to two options: home-school their children, or send them to private religious schools. She adds: "The judgment is very strong on 'inclusion' and 'tolerance and respect' but does not indicate how this will happen for religious parents; (tolerance and respect are) only for same-sex parents and teachers."
******* The decision also gives support to an earlier ruling by the BC Teachers' Federation, which ordered its members to incorporate pro-gay propaganda into every subject at every age level, from kindergarten to Grade 12. That agenda is also being picked up by other left-wing teachers' unions across Canada, which uniformly support the NDP, endorsed by the pro-gay lobby.
******* Brian Rushfeldt, executive director of the Canadian Family Action
Coalition, said, "The Supreme Court has ruled that any opinion based on religious beliefs is invalid in the so-called 'public' (education) system. Thus if a parent, teacher or even school board trustee has an opinion on an issue, it will only be respected if it is... secular... Any opinions based on religion will be discarded.
******* "Is Supreme Court discrimination against religion now the rule of law in Canada?" he asked.
******* "This antagonism against religion should cause every religious person to question whether they can and will continue to support the secular 'public' system any longer," Rushfeldt says. "This decision renders the opinion and the will of all religious people 'invalid'. It also excludes religious people from being able to fulfill their role and duties as teachers, trustees and certainly as parents."
******* Gray endorsed the CFAC call for Christian, Sikh, Jewish and other religious parents to pull their children out of government schools that violate the convictions of their faith.
******* Religious parents, he said, are now required by law to give their taxes and their children to the State, "but you will not be allowed to participate in their educational process."
******* Rushfeldt urged provincial governments to change their education acts to allow greater provincial autonomy in the development of education policies. "And parents will have to make a decision whether to remove their children from this anti-religious secular public system," he added.
******* CFAC President Roy Beyer points out, "It was 100% within the jurisdiction of both the parents and the school board to exclude materials that they considered offensive. The only reason the Supreme Court ruled against parents and trustees was because they were religious. If an atheist found some school materials offensive, their opinion would be valid. Religious Canadians no longer have equal rights as citizens in Canada... All religious people should be awakened to the antagonism of the court against people of faith."

******* Date: Sat, 16 Nov 2002
******* From: Frank Wagner

******* to: those at the Columbus Dispatch who may be in favour of carrying "same-sex 'marriage' announcements" in the Columbus Dispatch
******* from: Frank Wagner
******* Dear Sir or Madam,
******* Please reconsider your support for such a policy.
******* Carrying same sex "marriage" announcements tends to denigrates marriage and attempts to elevate homosexual sex, which has proven itself to be very destructive, towards respectability and acceptance.
******* Sodomy has always been a sin, is still a sin and will always be a sin. Please don't promote it.

******* item 20 CHRISTIANS COUNTER HOMOSEXUAL 'DAY OF SILENCE' By WorldNetDaily
******* From: "NewsnBlues"
******* Date: Mon, 20 Feb 2006
******* 'Truth' event at high schools nationwide responds boldly but 'in love'.
******* 2006 WorldNetDaily.com
******* High-school students nationwide will take part in a "Day of Truth" to counter homosexual activism and peacefully express a Christian perspective.
******* During school hours, students will wear "Day of Truth" T-shirts and pass out cards, said the Arizona-based public-interest group Alliance Defense Fund, which is sponsoring the April 27 event.
******* Outside of class time, the students will present the following message: I am speaking the Truth to break the silence. Silence isn't freedom. It's a constraint. Truth tolerates open discussion, because the Truth emerges when healthy discourse is allowed. By proclaiming the Truth in love, hurts will be halted, hearts will be healed, and lives will be saved.
******* Alan Sears, the ADF's president, CEO and general counsel, said the event provides an opportunity to express a different perspective than the "Day of Silence," a campus activity, he contended, that promotes a radical homosexual agenda.
******* The ADF offers assistance to students who initiate the "Day of Truth" at their schools.
******* "In the past, students who have attempted to speak against the homosexual agenda have been censored or in some cases punished for their beliefs," Sears explained. "It is important for students to stand up for their First Amendments right to hear and speak the Truth."
******* The "Day of Truth" will be held on the day after the "Day of Silence," promoted by the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Educational Network, which asks students to remain silent for an entire day to express their support for the homosexual agenda.
******* "The First Amendment allows for open discussion," Sears argued. "Allowing students to have a 'Day of Silence' without allowing them to have a 'Day of Truth' limits free speech and the free exchange of ideas, which then limits their ability to make informed decisions. Placing limits on student free speech ultimately places limits on learning."
******* The "Day of Truth" was launched last year, with more than 350 schools participating.

******* item 21 SCHOOL ORDERED TO PAY $100,000 FOR CENSORING CHRISTIAN STUDENT OVER HOMOSEXUALITY
******* From: raejason@vaxxine.com
******* Sent: Wednesday, October 06, 2004
******* DETROIT, October 5, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Detroit Federal District Judge Gerald E. Rosen (WOULDN'T IT BE WONDERFUL TO HAVE SANE JUDGES LIKE THAT IN CANADA? - RJ) has ordered the Ann Arbor Public Schools to pay $102,738 in attorney fees and costs to the Thomas More Law Center because school officials in that Michigan community prevented student Betsy Hansen from expressing her religious views against homosexuality during her high school's annual "Diversity Week" program.
******* Robert Muise, the Law Center attorney handling the case, commented: "If the Ann Arbor Public School District wants to continue to promote the homosexual agenda at the expense of the rights of Christian students, then this will be the cost of doing business. This case should remind school officials that public schools are not a forum for their personal political agenda."
******* During the 2002 "Diversity Week" program, Pioneer High School officials prevented Hansen from expressing her Roman Catholic view against homosexuality at a "Homosexuality and Religion" panel sponsored by the school, and also refused Hansen's request to have a panel member who would express her Roman Catholic belief against homosexuality. Hansen objected to the fact that school officials had handpicked religious leaders who endorsed the school's pro-homosexual agenda.
******* In response, school officials claimed that Hansen's religious view toward homosexuality was a "negative" message and would "water-down" the "positive" religious message that they wanted to convey-that homosexuality was consistent with Christianity and that homosexual behavior is not immoral or sinful.
******* Last December, Judge Rosen ruled that the school had violated Hansen's constitutional right to freedom of speech and right to equal protection, as well as the Establishment Clause. The judge's 70-page opinion in favor of the Christian student was highly critical of the action taken by the school to censor Hansen's speech. The six-figure fee award is a result of that earlier decision.

******* item 22 SCHOOL APOLOGIZES FOR CENSORING STUDENT'S VIEWS ON HOMOSEXUALITY
By Jim Brown

******* ADF Celebrates Oregon High School Student's Free-Speech Victory. School Apologizes for Censoring Christian Teen's 'Day of Truth' T-Shirt Message
******* (AgapePress) - A high school in Oregon has apologized to a student for censoring her Christian view on homosexuality.
******* Last April, an official at Springfield High School ordered several Christian students on campus to remove the T-shirts they were wearing on the "National Day of Truth," an event designed to counter the promotion of homosexuality in schools. The T-shirts contained the message "I am a Christian, and I am against homosexuality, abortion, pre-marital sex, and drugs."
******* After her shirt was banned, one sophomore contacted the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), a pro-family legal organization. ADF then sent a letter to school officials, arguing that the student's free-speech rights were being violated. Springfield High School later apologized to the teen girl, saying she and other students will be allowed to wear their Christian T-shirts in the future.
******* ADF litigation counsel Tim Chandler says he is pleased the issue has
been resolved. However, the attorney notes, it is discouraging that many school officials are still unaware of students' free-speech rights. He says the school officials felt the Day of Truth T-shirt message was negative and felt they needed to suppress it.
******* "So often school officials are trying to create this perfect, politically correct campus," Chandler laments, "but in doing so they end up censoring students, and they squelch any kind of debate on these issues on campus." However, he contends that the law is clear on this issue.
******* "The Supreme Court has said schools have the right to censor student speech only if it's disruptive, only if it's vulgar, only if it's lewd -- those kinds of things," the ADF lawyer explains. "Those are the standards that schools need to be adhering to," he says. "They can't ban speech just because they don't agree with it or because it might be a little controversial."
******* Chandler notes that students celebrating the pro-homosexual "Day of Silence" event on Springfield High School's campus this year were not prohibited from expressing their support for the homosexual agenda. He says ADF applauds officials at the school who realized they cannot censor students based on their viewpoint, particularly when students promoting an opposing view are permitted to express their opinions freely.
