Magnum has had one bout of lameness recently.  I have been giving him an oral glucosomine supplement and had run out.  He had been doing so well that I thought I'd wait to see if he did o.k. without it for a couple of weeks until my next order came in.  Well, he was off his leg within a few days; guess I won't run out of the supplements anymore.   I gave him Adequan shots until the Replenex came and he has been doing pretty good.  He gets up and down with hesitation and it takes him a little bit to get up onto the couch but all in all he seems to be a happy dog.  He'll never do a lot of running and he'll never be like other dogs who have never had knee injuries but, considering the shape of his knees, I think he's doing o.k.  He's still happy and has a good quality of life.  He brings us much joy and we're happy to pamper him.  The arthritis will always be there and will always cause him some discomfort, more at some times than others but it's something we just have to learn to live with.  Magnum still goes out to play with his "brother" Duncan and when it's warm out, he gets to go swimming.  In Magnum's eyes, ain't nothin' better than swimmin', 'cept maybe a good loaf of bread!!  Yum, Yum!!  :-)

Even though he will never be 100% after his TPLO, I know that it was the right thing to do for him.  The arthritis hasn't gotten worse since the surgery and that is a major plus right there.  The knee is much more stable and should stay that way.
