Biblical Change
Biblical Change is important in the life of a child of God.
Facts concerning Biblical change:
1. Change is hard
a. Jeremiah 13:23; 22:21
b. One becomes accustomed to their learned behavior.
c. Personality is the sum of two things:
1) inherited nature
2) learned behavior (acquired habits)
*Salvation changes our habits!
d. We can't change our inherited nature but we can change how we use it.
2. Change is possible
a. Any quality of life, attitude of mind or activity that God requires to change can be done through Christ.
b. Galatians 5:22,23 (Fruit of the Spirit)
3. Changing the past
a. It can't be done!
b. The past doesn't need changing; what needs changing is the way one is NOW!
c. The only sure way to change a situation is to change your behavior in it!
4. Change is possible in Christ
a. 2 Cor. 5:17 - radical change at salvation
b. Romans 12:2; Eph. 4:17-32 - change of mind
c. Change is possible in Christ
1) Age is no barrier.
2) Heredity is no excuse.
3) Environment is not an unconquerable hindrance.
The Bible gives needed hope, direction and goals; the Holy Spirit provides power and Biblical personal discipline is
the way to change. This is the process called Sanctification.
