| Philenos has a unique set of Gods. A large portion of them were mortals at one time. At the time of The Arrival, there were only two deities, Dartos and Lightonia, and the 4elemental spirits. Lightonia and her consort grew tired of settling the squabbles between the new arrivals and the established races. They combined their vast powers and created the God Gems, and scattered these across the lands. As mortals found the gems and discovered how to fully unlock the powers in the gems, they become deities themselves. Each gem was of a different color, shape, and power level. Many of the mortals discovering these gems, didn't know what they had until they actually unlocked the power. It has been many centuries since a gem was found and unlocked, but none think they have all been found. Dartos and Lightonia refuse to tell anyone how many they created and have them hidden from magical detection, even by the other gods and goddess. Although each deity is fully a god or goddess, Dartos and Lightonia made sure that they could never been overthrown by not creating any gem that would give a mortal as much power as they themselves had. The Lesser and Elemental dieties do not generally have organized churches, but they do have clerics scattered around the realms |
