SUMMARY
In the Two Towers the audience rejoins Frodo and Sam making their way through the swamps and rocks on their way to Mordor, they are lost. Throughout the whole film they hardly cover any ground. They meet up with Gollum - who tries to steal the Ring from them. They persuade him to lead them to Mordor. Frodo takes pity on Gollum who once was a the Ringbearer. Along the way Frodo and Sam are taken hostage by men - one of whome is Boromir's brother - Faramir. He takes them to his father - hoping to give the Ring to him. Faramir tricks Frodo and captures Gollum. At the end of the film Faramir releases them and wishes them luck on their journey to Mordor, and the audience see Gollum plotting to kill Frodo and Sam.......
Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas are still chasing the Uraki, trying to save Pippin and Merry. They follow the tracks into Fengorn Forest - where they meet Gandalf . He tells them how he escaped from the shadows of Moria. He has been reborn as 'Gandalf the White'. They enter the Kingdom of Rohan and meet the King of Rohan, King Theoden. King Theoden has fallen under Saruman's spell, due to the help of Saruman's spy, Grima Wormtongue. The niece of the King, Eowyn, meets Aragorn and immediately falls for him. Though Aragorn feels drawn to her he is constantly reminded of his bind with Arwen. Gandalf breaks the spell over Theoden and drives Wormtongue back to Saruman. Gandalf then tries to persuade Theoden to take his people to war - that Saruman will strike. Eventually Theoden leads the people of Rohan to Helms Deep and they prepare for battle.
The Two Hobbits, Pippin and Merry, manage to escape from the Uraki and find themselves in Fengorn Forest where they meet Gandalf. He entrusts the tree, Treebeard to protect them and he takes them to the edge of the forest - and tells them to leave for The Shire while they still can. They decide they cannot leave and they show the Ents what has happened to their families, how Saruman tore down the trees and killed them. The Ents - outraged - attack Isengard, trapping Saruman and Worntongue inside the Tower. |
