"Stokie No1"& M.Y."Islander"
Welcome
"Stokie No1", is a modern day variation of the type of boats that once plied trade along Britains canals.
She was built in the early 1990's by John Pinder & Sons of Stoke Prior England, hence her name "Stokie"
She is 72 feet long over all and was built to carry loads of up to 23 tons. Her power is supplied by a Ruston Hornsby 15 HP diesel engine. Model 2YW. Even though her engine is relitivly small, horsepower wise, she swings a 24 Inch Dia prop, which is more than capable of pushing her through deep water a a healthy 6 Knotts, whilst returning a modest 7 3/4 running hours per gallon of fuel used.
"Stokie"'s purpose in life, is to act as a mobile diesel filling station, with tanks & an electric fuel pump installed on board so as to faciliate the refueling of other canal /river craft and in the case of the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal, sea going craft as well.
Above. This is "Stokie No1" moored at Slimbridge, Nr to Peter Scotts Wild Life Reserve.
Above "Stokie"  is moored at Sharpness, in fact this was once the old original Sharpness Docks. The new docks are behind me and to my left. The River Severn is in the far distance.
Owned & operated by myself, John Chard & my partner Brioni Sharman, we hope that the service we offer is second to none Seven Days a week 52 week of the year.

Asleep on the back of Stokie, is Shadow, our 10 year old Golden Retriever.
Above, is "Islander of Saltford", our sea going "Broom 37", powered by 2 x 175 HP Perkins turbo intercooled diesels.

We love all kinds of boats, whether they be rowing boats, narrowboats, wood steel or fibre glass, sea going, river or canal.
