Svetlana flies in to Doha:
Newly-crowned China Open champion, Svetlana Kuznetsova, has arrived in Doha to begin her preparations for the last major tournament of 2009 - the Sony Ericsson Championships. Kuznetsova has flown out to the Qatari capital a week before the season-ending tournament starts in order to fully acclimatise to the Middle Eastern heat. Hopes will be high for the third-ranked Russian as she finds herself in excellent form and fitness just a few days out from the year's final event. The Sony Ericsson Championships will run from Tuesday, 25th October to Sunday, 1st November at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex.

Kuznetsova crowned China Open champion:
Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova's love-affair with the China Open continued after she captured her twelfth career singles title by defeating Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) in the women's singles final in Beijing. Sixth-seeded Kuznetsova, who was playing in her fourth China Open final, quickly took control of her match against the 12th-seeded Pole, dominating play and effectively negating Radwanska's attacking game before wrapping up a comprehensive straight sets 6-2, 6-4 victory over her 20-year-old opponent. Sunday's triumph awarded Kuznetsova her second Beijing crown (the first coming in 2006), her third singles title of the year and US$775,500 in prizemoney. Full Story »
