Alesha woke up just as the plane was landing. She couldn't tell if the queasy feeling in her stomach was from nerves or from the fact that her Dramamine had worn off a couple of hours ago. "Probably both," she mumbled stuffing her Discman into her bag. Sighing, she leaned her head back against the chair closing her eyes. "Ungh, this sucks," she thought willing her stomach to stay put. The plane finally came to a stop. She slowly opened her eyes, praying that they'd be able to unboard soon.
"Where is he?" Brian asked pacing back and forth. "We have 20 minutes til we go out there to talk to these people."
"BRok, chill. He's always late when he comes by himself. You know that. He'll be here," Howie said trying to calm Brian down.
Kevin pulled out his cell phone and dialed Nick's number. Listening to it ring, the voicemail was the only answer he received. "I don't know Howie. He's not answering his phone. Something's up."
"The retard probably forgot to charge it," AJ said glancing over at Brian.
"No, only you do that," Kevin mumbled.
Terrance, the coordinator of the conference came back and told the guys that they had to be out at the table in 10mintues regardless of Nick's presence or absence. Brian sighed. "I hope nothing has happened to him."
"Nothing has happened to him. It'd be all over the news or something," AJ said standing up and checking his appearnce in the mirror.
"Thanks AJ. That's real reassuring," Brian muttered looking out the window. Picking up his phone, he dialed Nick's number. His answer was the same as Kevin's. "Nick, this is Brian. Where are you man? We're worried about you. We're at the conference. I know you know the way. Get here as soon as you can," he said hanging up the phone.
Kevin looked at his cousin and then at Howie and AJ. Shrugging with a sigh he started towards the door. "Guess we hafta go."
Nick walked into the building, head low so no one would recognize him. Walking through the crowds of people, he glanced up to find which direction he needed to go. Heading over there, he knocked on the door.
Alesha stepped off from the plane into the busy airport. Looking back and forth at the people walking by, no one resembled the description DarkStar had given her of himself, not that it was too descriptive to begin with. "Tall, big smile, dark green coat, black baseball cap. Holding a white rose," she thought, shaking her head. Stopping somewhere off to the side, so she wasn't blocking the traffic of the airport, she scanned the crowd. "Man, this airport definitely kicks Orlando's butt," she mumbled. "Better music, too," she grinned recognizing the song. She sung along quietly as she waited for her Mystery Man to appear.
o~/It's not that I can't live without you/It's just that I don't even want to try/Every night I dream about you/Ever since the day we said goodbye/If I wasn't such a fool/Right now I'd be holding you/There's nothin' that I wouldn't do/Baby if I only knew//The words to say/The road to take/To find a way back to your heart/What can I do/To get to you/And find a way back to your heart//I don't know how it got so crazy/But I'll do anything to set things right/'Cause your love is so amazing/Baby you're the best thing in my life/Let me prove my love is real/And made you feel the way I feel/I promise I would give the world/If only you would tell me girl//~o
Alesha made a face as she realized that there was something wrong with the song. It sounded different. Not the fact that it was growing increasingly louder. That was probably due to the fact that she was actually paying attention to it and the sounds of the airport were fading into the background. Not the fact that the lyrics were drowing out the music. Airport music was usually that way. It was the fact that there was only one voice singing the song. And looking across the room, to where the boarding announcer booth stood, she realized why there was only once voice in the song.
There he stood. Tall and smiling largely. He had on a dark green coat and a black Chicago Bulls baseball cap. And in his hand, the one that wasn't holding the intercom, was a long-stem white rose. Alesha's eyes filled with tears as he continued singing, motioning her to walk over to him.
o~/Give me one more chance, to give my love to you/'Cause no one on this earth loves you like I do,/tell me//I turn back time/To make you mine/And find a way back to your heart/I beg and plead/Fall to my knees/To find a way back to your heart/~o
"You didn't say anything about serenading me at the airport," Alesha said looking up at him.
"I wanted to surprise you," he said handing her the flower.
"That you did," she said softly.
Holding his arms out to her, his eyes full of worry that she'd leave. Walking into his embrace, Alesha let go of the fragile hold on the tears threatening to fall. "I've missed you babygirl. Thank you for coming."
"I've missed you, too," she whispered. "I'm glad that it was you that was here," she smiled, looking into those familiar blue eyes. "But…aren't you suppose to be at a conference right now?"
He nodded and looked at her. "Yes, but I thought that this was more important. I do, umm…have to call the guys to let them know I'm okay," Nick grinned.
Alesha laughed. "I'm sure Brian is ready to kill you," she said smiling at him. It felt so good, so…RIGHT, to be with him again. "Lori was right," she thought. "He is the guy I've been waiting for."
