Two Days of Bliss, Two Days of Agony
I was elated. I don't think I'd been this happy ever in the last four years. But now I was. I had my mermaid again. Had her back in my arms to hold. And back in my life forever. But something held me back from beginning my life in the sea. Some force that I couldn't quite explain or describe.
For two days I laid on the beach with Seraphina cuddled against my chest. Her tail flapped slightly, brushing my ankles with the soft fan-like end. When her tail became too dry, I lifted her in my arms and carried her back to the ocean to moisten her rough scales. Then we would frolic in the water together. She'd disappear beneath the ocean's surface and then before I could prepare myself, she'd yank me under the salty waves.
I held her against me in the soft waves, her breasts pressed gently against my chest. I kissed the tip of her nose, the side of her neck. Every inch of flesh that was exposed, my lips found and greeted with a kiss. My hands caressed her naked back and the round shape of the back of her tail. I traced my finger along the edge of her tail and grazed a deep gash in her soft skin. I looked with concern.
"Don't worry," Seraphina said with a smile. "They're gills. Essential if you're an ocean creature like myself."
I lifted her out of the water and studied her gills. Four 3-inch slits along the upper ridge of her fish tail. "They're beautiful," I whispered, planting a delicate kiss on the gill area. She sighed.
       "Nick," she paused.
       "Yeah, baby?" I questioned.
"Can you make love to me?" she asked meekly.
I was taken aback at her question. I hadn't expected her to ask me that yet. We'd only rekindled our relationship two days before. But one look at her ocean blue eyes and pouty lips and I couldn't say no. "I'd like nothing more," I replied.
She kissed me lightly and dipped beneath the ocean's calm surface. I returned to the shore to wait for my mermaid to return. Only return with legs. Beautiful legs. I waited, minute upon minute, and she never resurfaced. "Seraphina?" I called. No answer. "Seraphina?!" I called again, this time more panicked.
Suddenly, I felt arms wrapped around my waist from behind. Long, slender arms holding me tightly. I could feel her nipples grazing my back lightly, the sensation causing feelings of arousal to flow through my body. I turned around quickly and enveloped her in my secure embrace. Her nipples hardened even more against my stomach. And I felt my own arousal making its presence known. I kissed her deeply, passionately, as we sank to our knees on the crystal sand. I laid her back on the shore and kissed her neck, making a trail down to the center of her sex. I listened to her sigh and moan. Watched as she writhed beneath me in anticipation of more.
Finally, I couldn't hold out anymore. I couldn't make either of us suffer any longer for what we both truly wanted. I buried myself in her and almost lost it right there at the renewed feeling of being inside her. How I'd waited for this moment for so long. And with any other girl after Seraphina, I always compared her to my mermaid. No one ever came close.
Long strokes and short thrusts. Soft grunts and low moans. Heaving pants and aroused sighs. All this came crashing down. Two orgasms unified into one chorus of love.
We parted and she laid against me, her cheek resting on my palpitating chest. I caressed her chestnut with a shaking hand. Then a thought struck me like a lightening bolt. I had just committed adultery against Brynne.
I sat up shaken. "What's wrong, Nick?" Seraphina asked, sitting at my side and caressing my sweating cheek.
My breath came in short gasps. How could I do that? Granted, I didn't love her like I loved Seraphina, but I had still cheated on the one I had given my vow to. "I have to go back to Brynne," I stated, staring into Seraphina's captivating eyes.
"I thought you wanted to spend the rest of your years in the ocean with me," she said, folding her hands in her lap and casting her eyes downward.
"I do! It's just that....I'm married to her. I have to tell her that I don't want to be with her. I have to tell her that I love another. Then I'll be back to live under the sea with you. My true love," I explained.
"All right, Nick. Go to her. Tell her. But be assured that I will not wait an eternity for you." With that she rose to her feet and ran back to the ocean. Diving under the surface and out of my sight.
I stood at the edge of the sand. "How do I get back?" I asked myself aloud. I pulled my shorts over my naked frame and walked around to the other side of the island. To my luck I spied a speed boat parked in the middle of the lolling waves. "Hey!" I shouted, waving my arms frantically.
The captain saw me and started the engine. Then the lights and sirens. It was the Coast Guard. "You Nick Carter?" the chief asked me. I nodded. "Man, are you lucky we found you. You have some very worried people waiting for you on the mainland. Hop aboard," he stated. I clamored aboard and the engine revved, taking me back to the mainland.
I opened the hotel room door cautiously, not knowing what to expect on the other side. Brynne gasped when she saw me and raced across the room and into my arms. "God, Nicky! Where have you been? I've been so worried!" she cried. But before I could say a word, she pulled herself back and slapped me across the face. "That's for earlier." Then another slap. "And that's for making me worry."
I just stared at her stunned. "Oh, baby! Thank God you're okay!" she shouted, embracing me tightly once again. I lifted her face upward to look at me. Her eyes were rimmed red from crying and a light, purplish bruise scarred her porcelin cheek.
"I'm sorry for doing that, sweetheart. I hope you can forgive me," I murmured into her hair as I pulled her back to my chest. That's when I noticed the tall, dark figure standing near the balcony doors. Brynne noticed me stiffen at the sight and removed herself from my body. "Kevin, what are you doing here?" I asked, running a hand sheepishly through my sand-encrusted hair.
The older man stepped forward. "Brynne called me in a panic yesterday, saying that you two had a fight and you hadn't returned. You can't ignore a call like that, especially when it concerns a person whom a lot a people love," Kevin stated.
"I'm sorry. I just had a lot to think about," I apologized, averting my eyes from his scrutinizing gaze.
"We have a lot to talk about too, kid," Kevin replied. "Care to get a drink?" he questioned.
I nodded. What other choice did I have? "I'll be back soon. I promise," I whispered to Brynne as Kevin ushered me out of the door.
We sat alone at the bar, sipping our margaritas in silence. "Care to tell me what's going on?" Kevin asked, breaking the silence and drawing a long slurp off his glass.
"Not really," I answered, flipping my wedding ring between my fingers absent-mindedly.
"Brynne says you've been kind of distant for most of your honeymoon. Other than a few times she mentioned," Kevin said with a grin. I flushed crimson. How come she told him about that? "Anyway, then you fight over this necklace," he continued, lifting the charm off my neck.
"You don't know anything about this necklace, Kevin. It's my most cherished possession," I snapped.
"It wouldn't have anything to do with a striking sea creature by the name of Seraphina, would it?" Kevin inquired with a sly smile.
I stared at him in shock, my mouth agape and dry "Close the fly trap, kid. I know," Kevin chuckled.
"How in the hell do you know?" I questioned.
"I told you I saw mermaids all the time while working at Disney," he laughed. I gared at him. "Seriously, I heard you guys talking the night of the party. Heard her talking a language that I'd never heard before and you being able to understand her. And then when she left the next day, I followed her. I saw her legs turn into a tail. I saw her become a mermaid and dive back into the ocean," Kevin explained.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I probed.
"Cause I'm an asshole. I didn't want you to get mixed up in a fantasy," Kevin stated.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"The next day at the picnic I saw her again and motioned her over. She came to me and I told her if she loved you, she would never see you again. That's why you didn't see her for that entire week prior to our departure."
Anger bubbled in my veins. Kevin was the reason I didn't see her! That rat bastard! "You sonofabitch!" I muttered before swinging my closed fist at him. It hit him squarely in the cheek bone and Kevin tumbled backwards off his stool.
"Nick, listen to me!" Kevin snapped, rising to his feet and pinning my arms at my sides. "Brynne called everyone to tell them you were MIA. Brian offered to come down to be with her, but I knew it was because of Seraphina that you'd disappeared. So I took his place. I'm here to make things right. To make amends and make sure that you end up with the one that means the most to you," Kevin said, releasing his hold on my arms.
"You think I should be with Seraphina?" I questioned in disbelief.
"Yes. You may have found the one woman on land who brought you back to the Nick everyone knows and loves, but she fails in comparison to that captivating mermaid. Seraphina is the one woman on Earth who can make you completely happy," Kevin answered.
"How can I do that? Brynne will never believe me about Seraphina. And I don't want to divorce her because then she'll think I never loved her when in actuality I loved her dearly," I said quietly.
Kevin leaned toward me, a smirk playing on his thin lips. "Then don't give her a divorce. Make her a widow."
