Clore Family

Generation 1

Hanns Michael Klaar is our earliest known ancestor in the Clore family. He was born c1630 in Germany and died 4 Feb 1712 at Gemmingen, Baden, Germany. He married Ursula Sybilla, surname unknown. Ursula Sybilla was born c1633 in Germany and died 24 June 1720 at Gemmingen, Baden, Germany. They had the following children:

  3. Hans Martin Klaar
  4. Anna Barbara Klaar
  5. Anna Maria Klaar

Generation 2

Hans Martin Klaar was born c1665 at Gemmingen, Baden, Germany and died 11 October 1722 at Gemmingen, Baden, Germany. He married before 1693 to Maria Barbara, surname unknown. Further information about Maria Barbara is unknown. They had the following children:
  1. Hans Michael Klaar (aka Michael Clore, John Michael Clore, Michael Klor, Michael Clawr)
  2. Susanna Klaar
  3. Anna Barbara Klaar
  4. Anna Maria Klaar
  5. Anna Barbara Claren
  6. Hans Adam Klaar

Generation 3

Hans Michael Klaar (aka Michael Clore, John Michael Clore, Michael Klor, Michael Clawr) was born c1687 at Gemmingen, Baden, Germany. He died at Culpeper (now Madison) Co., VA between 10 May 1762 when he made his will and 17 March 1763 when his will was probated. He married c1706 to Anna Barbara, surname unknown, in Germany. Anna Barbara was born c1687 in Germany and died before 14 July 1760 at Culpeper (now Madison) Co., VA.  Michael Clore and his wife Barbara were members of the 1717 Colony at Germanna, VA. They had the following children:

  2. Maria Barbara Klaar
  3. Hans Michael Klaar
  4. Agnes Margaretha Glore
  5. Andreas Claus Klaar
  6. Catherine Clore
  7. Johann Georg Klaar (aka George Clore)
  8. Peter Clore
  9. Margaret Clore
Michael Clore married second to Ann Elizabeth, surname unknown (d. 1766) before 14 July 1760. They had no children together.

Generation 4

Johann Georg Klaar, aka George Clore, was christened 16 April 1716 at Gemmingen, Baden, Germany and died between 23 November 1750 when his will was written and 19 September 1751 when his will was probated at Culpeper Co., VA.  He married c1746 in VA to Anna Barbara Weaver, daughter of Hans Dieterich Weber (aka Peter Weaver) and Louisa Elisabetha Volck.  She was born c1730 in VA and died 11 June 1808 in Madison Co., VA.  She married second to Andrew Carpenter.

George Clore and Barbara Weaver had the following children:

Generation 5

Michael Clore was born 1 December 1746 at Orange (now Madison) Co., VA and died 7 December 1817. He married Margaretha Weaver in Culpeper (now Madison) Co., VA. Margaretha Weaver was born 19 December 1752 at Culpeper (now Madison) Co., VA and died 24 November 1814. For further information on this line see the Weber/Weaver Family. They had the following children:

Generation 6

Isreal Clore was born 15 April 1779 at Culpeper (now Madison) Co., VA and died 18 August 1854 at Waveland, Montgomery Co., IN. He married Frances Deer 7 or 17 February 1805 at Hebron Lutheran Church, Madison Co., VA. She was born 3 December 1782 and died 17 April 1870 at Montgomery Co., IN. For futher information on her ancestry see the Deer Family. Family tradition has it that Israel Clore's siblings as well as Frances Deer's siblings migrated to Boone Co., KY as a group and then on to Indiana together . Another family tradition has Isreal Clore walking to Indiana from Kentucky carrying his gun. This does not seem unlikely as Indiana is just across the Ohio River from Boone Co., KY. Whether he walked all the way to Montgomery Co. or not is debatable. He may have purchased his land in Indiana sight unseen before migrating. One of my father's prized possessions is a mantle clock originally owned by Israel Clore and it still works. Israel Clore and Frances Deer had the following children:

Generation 7

Howard Clore (aka Howard Clore, Sr.) was born 23 March 1819 at Boone Co., KY and died 14 December 1895 at Parke Co., IN. He married first 12 December 1839 at Montgomery Co., IN to Margaret Deer who was born 5 August 1821 and died 6 November 1856 at Parke Co., IN. She was the mother of his first seven children. He married second 1 January 1857 to Sarah Deer, sister of Margaret Deer, at Indiana. Sarah Deer was born 16 April 1824 at Boone Co.?, KY and died 30 December 1873 at Parke Co., IN. She was the mother of his five other children. For further information on Margaret and Sarah Deer see the Deer Family. Howard Clore married third before 7 June 1880 when they sold land to his son Howard D. Clore to Betsy Ann, surname uknown. She died before 1895 as she was not mentioned in his will. I have an original copy of his will and a list of buyers from his estate sale.

Generation 8

Howard D. Clore (aka Howard Clore, Jr.) was born 11 November 1857 near Waveland, Montgomery Co., IN and died 18 January 1936 at Sterling, Logan Co., CO. He is buried at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, Logan Co., CO. According to family tradition, he adopted D as his middle initial because his mail kept getting mixed up with his father's mail. His occupation was that of a farmer and livestock breeder. He and his brother Whitfield W. Clore specialized in Polled Hereford cattle and owned Otter Creek Stock Farms in Norwood, IA. Howard D. Clore married Della Emma Miller 1 January 1890 at Norwood, Lucas Co., IA. She was born 20 November 1868 at Norwood, Lucas Co., IA and died 17 March 1951 at Albuquerque, Bernalillo Co., NM. For futher information on Della Emma Miller see the Miller Family. Howard D. Clore and Della Emma Miller removed to Sterling, CO in 1917. I have lots of photos of all members of their family. They had the following children:

Generation 9

William Pearl "Bud" Clore was born 3 March 1894 in Norwood, Lucas Co., IA and died 10 March 1969 on a farm near Sheridan, Yamhill Co., OR that was located in Polk Co. He married Alice Lena Lowers 9 June 1938 at Julesburg, Sedgwick Co., CO. She was born 9 March 1911 at Wishek, McIntosh Co., ND and died 11 June 1996 at St. Helens, Columbia Co., OR. After she was grown and teaching school in North Dakota, her parents moved to Colorado after being blown out during the "Dust Bowl" years. While spending the summer in Colorado, cooking on her Dickinson cousins' ranch, those cousins introduced her to their neighbor Bud Clore. For further information on the ancestry of Alice Lowers see the Lowers Family. Both are buried at Green Crest Memorial Park, Sheridan, OR. They had the following children:

  2. Howard Daniel Clore
