INTERVIEW: Mario Luzi, the most important
living italian poet.
30 March 2001
Florence
The New Era interviews Mario Luzi, the most important living italian poet.
We had a brief meeting in Florence with Mario Luzi, a poet born in 1914 who has been a witness of the culture of the
20th century.
We asked him about his experience in the literary movement called "Ermetismo".
Surprisingly we had no clear answer. The poet spoke about Ermetismo, but the true meaning of his words was that a poet can also change his ideas over the years.
We think this love for spiritual freedom is the main characteristic of this poet, and of poets in general.
We finished the interview with the poet Mario Luzi who refused all categorization, but left us with a profound feeling of intellectual freedom. Thank you Mr Mario Luzi.
