The italian bank foundations. 25 November, 2001     Siena 2001 General manouevers in the Italian banks. The bank foundations have to lose control of the banks that are under privatization. At the same time, the Italian government is preparing for the privatization of the public companies, for example ENI. The problem is how to mantain control of the italian public companies in Italy. And, at the same time, how to keep control of the banks in italian hands. Regarding this argument there is an important interview in the last number of Milano Finanza with the new President of the Italian Bank Foundation of Monte dei Paschi di Siena. We must say that in Italy the political parties and power organizations founded their power on the banks, and on their foundations. As a result now the major fear is that of losing control of the banks and of the public companies that are at the same time under privatization. Moreover, these old power centers are afraid of possible changes that may come from European foreigners that might suddenly open their eyes to the italian economic and political mysteries.
